They had no chance in the first place regardless.  JR wouldn't sell to them and the owners wouldn't approve them.

Im all in on Diddy. Im tired of being quiet small market Carolina Panthers who doesn't get Nat'l attention unless Cam does something negative.

Diddy will rival Jerry Jones if he was owner. He will make this team the talk of the league. We will be the talk of the sports world with Diddy as owner.

Speaking of, are there any legal repercussions for giving preference to certain bids over others, regardless of money?

For example, does Jerry have the right to sale to the local group even if their bid is lower than Diddy’s (I feel stupid just typing that)?

The NFL would have to approve any relocation request, and they don't like moving stable teams. Even with the current issues, the Panthers are still a very stable team.

And although Richardson is selling under a cloud, he's still doing it voluntarily. He probably will have multiple offers, and that means he can choose whoever gives him the strongest commitment to staying.

I don't take the threat of the team moving seriously at all.

I'm pretty sure you can't dictate who a person decides to sell their rights to.  Now the league could veto it as it's in their bylaws but there's no civil law that I'm aware of that prevents the sale to whomever he chooses.

You don't announce you are selling a 2+ billion dollar asset without having some idea of potential buyers.   I think this has been in the works for awhile.

Back to topic... here's the biggest positive on this for me.

If this goes through, the next majority owner will be a businessman, not a former player.

Now, unless that businessman is a wannabe coach/GM (ala Jerry Jones) there's a decent probability that they'll hire a football guy and hand over the reins instead of meddling in the day to day operations.

That would make me very happy.

I believe the 100% sale is at request of the new/existing ownership in order to re-alighn/reshuffle/reshape the ownership group as desired all at once
