Moving the Team

I agree. It makes sense to keep the team here. I am just concerned that it will come down to the tax payers of Charlotte and or the state of North/South Carolina to keep the team here. If that happens, I have a very bad feeling about it. That's all, guys. Not a soothsayer,  not a visionary, just concerned about the possibilities now that Mr. Richardson's leash to the City has been removed and the involvement of an unknown entity.

The taxpayers and leaders should stand firm against all TOOTHLESS threats.  BOA may be replaced in our lifetimes, but it should be multiple+ election cycles away.

I agree but what if the new owner demands that Charlotte get a SuperBowl? The NFL will not have the SuperBowl at BOA. It would require a new venue, that is my biggest current fear.

Thank you. I am using logic here <- now I am a moronic panicking fan. Awesome. I guess logic doesn't apply, you guys know it all.

It's a possibility. It's not one that follows any logic though.

It still boggles my mind that Charlotte can draw 150,000 plus fans to NASCAR events a few times a year, but can’t accommodate one single super bowl event?

Depends on the terms and conditions.  But since this year’s SB is in Minnesota, let’s use them as an example and say NO WAY JOSE is it worth it under those terms.  Remember Minnesota had the Metrodome roof collapse and the REAL LA threat-they had no choice.

I can also remember a time when Greensboro, NC was selected as the finalist for the Minnesota Twins when they demanded a new stadium. The land was there and they were ready to make the move................Until the good people of Minnesota caved into the Twins demands and Greensboro failed to pass the legislation needed to build the stadium. Business men are ruthless, its how they make their money, and Mr. Shinn has already tried to poke the city of Charlotte. <-Just saying the threat is there, its not a tin foil hat.

If your a potential buyer that wants a successful business, you would not even think about moving. It's not worth the risk, when it is already set up to be highly profitable. Moving means hundreds of millions of dollars for relocation, on top of trying to tap into an unknown market.

It's not going to happen.

It was never a realistic option.

People panic for no reason.

This, if you think there is a realistic chance the panthers move anywhere you have no idea about what you’re talking about.

regional map, growth rate of the area and demographics mean the Panthers aren’t going anywhere, they won’t leave this market.

The fact that JR is selling the team now instead of the sale after he dies substantially decreases the chance that this will happen as I think he will want to make sure the team stays here.

I definitely makes business sense to keep the team here but that may not matter in the scenario where a potential owner from another market sees the opportunity to get an NFL team there and bids with the intention of moving the team.   It happened in the NBA with Seattle and is on the verge of happening in MLS with Columbus.  For a person in that situation this really is the perfect scenario because of the lack of a long lease on the stadium.

I do not foresee this being the final outcome and as I said, the odds are even better in our favor now than if JR had dies, but to say it is not a possibility is incorrect.
