It's just frustrating that there is such clear cut science out there and yet people are still confused. Even those that claim to be well read. Thinking it's difficult to get complete protein from plants for example.

It is difficult. Just not impossible.

It's difficult depending on the person as well. Soy is a huge part of protein for plant based diet. Many are allergic or have very bad hormones reactions from Soy.

It also depends on lifestyle. Body builder's/very active adults need their weight in protein a DAY. While it's possible that is A LOT of beans/tofu. And beans/legumes are great for protein but also have a lot of carbs (complex).

It is also difficult financially. Self explanatory. Chicken are eggs are cheap and condensed protein.

Any doctor will tell you certain meats, especially from water are not bad in moderation.

The point if you have to consider things on a case by case basis and can't try and fit everyone into this super ideal mold.

Nothing is cheaper than rice and beans and it has sustained people with plenty of protein for millineia.

Plus, unlike meat, the only side effects are positive ones.

Unless you don't like farts. Personally, I love em.

The amount of beans and rice a person who requires 200 grams of protein a day would be an over abundance of carbs and would be a very poor diet. For the average person, sure it may work. You're comparing a completely different culture and way of life. It makes no sense to compare what people a thousands of years ago did. You're not factoring in lifestyle changes or allergens/tolerances people have evolved into. It may be cheap but completely unrealistic to tell someone to eat beans and rise every day.

It's frustrating when people continue to talk about science while ignoring or dismissing anything that doesn't conform to their viewpoint. That is not a scientific mindset.

Your reading comprehension is struggling. I never said one can't get a well rounded amino acid profile from a vegetarian diet. I said it's difficult. Thats because it is. It isn't about whether or not vegetarianism is inherently "bad". It's not if it's done correctly it just comes whether there's any actual nutritional benefit to a strictly vegetarian diet. Trying to prove this is where the zealotry amd confirmation bias comes into play.

What?  I am about as active as I can be and eat very little animal based protein - I enjoy a pescatarian diet and have been doing so for over 20 years  - I rarely eat fish, eggs and dairy products.

Active for you does not mean the same thing as active to the next person. As someone who has tailored their diet over the past 7 years, while building muscle mass with weights. I can tell you from experience, not paying attention or getting enough protein, or realty any macro, for my lifestyle is devastating on my body and hormones.

Again, you guys need to get out of your own head and lifestyles and realize an ideal diet (and workout for that matter) is a case by case scenario guided by generals.

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate vegetarians like you. Not the fake meat whiney ones.

We just happen to follow two different schools of thought.

I appreciate the unfettered conversation.

I would show you clinical trials if I thought it would actually matter to you.

Cool, show me.

I'm curious to see this protein deficient vegan population. Must be so common because it is so difficult to get protein from plants. Should be easy to find.

People need an average of 50 grams a day.

More for larger people, less for smaller people.

200 is a silly number. Pseudoscience.

And that's why I'm not going to bother. You've already made a deeply emotional decision and no amout of science and research will change that.

What you don't seem to be understanding is that no one is disputing that it's possible to create a balanced vegetarian diet. It's just that there's a big difference between a properly balanced vegetarian diets and "just eat beans and rice".
