Josh Johnson stats, I was looking at them on ESPN Johnson is 43/82 382 Yards, 3 TD's, 4 INT's, and 6 sacks. Johnson has a Completion percentage of 52.4% and a QB rating of 57.1 percent. His longest pass was a 31-yard pass completion, and his best game was last week against Philadelphia when he completed 26/50 passing for 240 yards and QB rating of 53.8 percent. John Fox actually watched Johnson work out at Quarterback prior to be drafted by the Buccaneers. The workout took place at Johnson's college San Diego!

stats don't tell the whole story my man:beatdeadhorse5: stats are a double edged sword.

here are some more stats, but this time i think you'll agree that they don't properly illustrate the player's talents

3 years of starting QB at SD.

108 TD passes

14 INT

9,177 passing yards

68% completion

5 total sacks

197.19 QB rating (SR. year, NCAA record)

i already know what your are thinking; it was a division II school. That is my point exactly! Stats do not tell the level of talent around the guy or that the guy is playing against.

Would JJ's college stats have been less impressive if he was playing a tough D-I schedule? Absolutely.

Would JJ's pro stats be better if his line could pick up a blitz and his receivers didn't have 8 drops in the last game? Absolutely.

So we are using this seasons's stats as a barometer for his play.

You are using his Div II College stats as a barometer?

Right.....

He will play great come Sunday...even though he has been below average all season....because he had good stats at a Div II college. that is all you have? Please tell me that you have more.

Because if not, YOU FAIL.

Nope to all of the above. what i was commenting on was that you can't use stats to determine how good or bad someone has been playing because a lot more goes into it than that. i'm not using this season stats to say he is bad b/c i know its more complicated than that. i'm not using college stats to say he is good b/c they were D-II stats.

what i am saying is this: commenting on how good he is b/c of something you have seen him do or not do is fine. saying JJ stinks, just look at his stats is very mis-leading.

PM me is you need more explanation. thanks.

So what exactly are you basing your statement that he is improving...showing great leadership...etc.

It is not stats....it is not wins....what is it?

No you are wrong, I wasn't thinking that NY. I did not have enough time to pull the kids stats from college, but its a game of numbers, a game of match-ups in the NFL, and a battle is always taking place at certain postions each week. This game however, features no matchups between either player from either team its just Carolina dominating Tampa Bay in the rain in Florida, But since Josh Johnson has been an unknown in this league up till now I figured I would pull his stats anyway.

"Keep this up, me and you will be having dinner with Jon Beason next Friday LOL!

i'm basing it upon what i have seen from him on the field, i'm basing it on how he looked his 1st start and how he looked his 2nd start. 50% improvement from 1 week to the next.

if he can stand in the pocket and make accurate throws against a very pressure heavy eagles team then he should be able to do the same against the panthers who are struggling to find the pressure they once had.

a game of matchups, yes. a game of individual battles, yes. but in the end stats don't matter so don't base talent on stats.
