Golic says Norwell will break the bank this off-season

I agree...we have to protect our QB.  I am tired of this team settling for mediocrity on the OL.  With Williams playing well, locking up Norwell will ensure we have 4 very good starters.  Leaves only one spot to fill along the line in the draft (unless Moton is that guy).

Moton being that guy would go a long way for us but really wont know if it doesn't see the field.

There's an old adage that you pay for tackles and you train up guards. There's some wisdom in it, for sure, but who wants to see Norwell not just walk but show up against us in the future?

I think it is all going to depend on what Norwell wants more than anything. There's a chance he could offer a hometown discount, but in all reality there could be millions more dollars out there waiting for him than we'd be willing, or able, to pay him. A difference of a couple of million per year is an amazing amount of money and it would be hard for any smart person to turn it down.

Most teams aren't going to pay top dollar for both guard positions, especially if the they are already paying about 10 mil annually to their starting center and LT.

If Norwell agrees to a hometown discount like you suggested (or if Ryan Kahlil retires and the team is off the hook for the 10 mil we owe him next season), then I can see keeping him and acquiring a Center in the offseason.

If neither of the above options takes place, we can move Moton inside or pick a guard in the draft. I know some disagree with me, but Norwell is replaceable. We signed him as an undrafted FA. This year's draft and the 2nd tier FA's are probably full of players with equal or greater potential.

The run game has improved as of late, but are rushing totals are still skewed because of Cam's uncanny ability to run. If you subtract his yards are run blocking is above average at best.

Trim fat off by cutting bait on JStew and CJ. Maybe Ryan retires, in which case we re-sign Norwell and then draft Billy Price in the 1st.

A line of Matt K - Norwell - Price - Turner - Williams will protect Cam for awhile.

I really hope we can re-sign Star and Norwell and then go C, DE, SAF in the first 3 rounds. Being in Marqise Lee in FA and we are set.

We could use 1 of our 2 post June 1st cuts on the bum.

I feel like there is better ways (free more money up) to use those 2 spots but I can’t remember right now

Unofficial list but you see that Hurney will have some tough decisions.

Next year Kelvin Benjamin's cap hit will be 8.5 million, and he's in Buffalo now.  Prior to the trade, everyone who was doing the math was saying that we could keep Norwell or we could keep Star, but we couldn't keep both.  Looks like we have space to keep both now, but the same people are saying the same thing.

I think he stays and gets a deal in the 8-10 million range.
