One positive note coming out of this whole JR thing is that presumably Marty “I hand out record contracts to everyone possible” Hurney will not be negotiating the deals.

I don't disagree but bottom line is that Butler is not a drop-in replacement for Star in the current scheme. 4-3 defenses are typically 1-gap responsibility so it would seem that another 3-technique guy would be fine but who knows if the team will want to modify something that's working well enough with both the DL and LB personnel.
