That's probably the best possible outcome.

SI's legal analyst pointed out that fighting this could lead to some nasty revelations that Richardson and his family might prefer not be made public.

Does he deserve it?

If he's guilty (and it looks pretty bad) I don't honestly care if his hush money didn't "hush" someone.

SI analyst also pointed out that with multiple agreements out there, it becomes harder to tell who might have leaked something.

Based on the story though, it doesn't sound like they needed to hear from the payoff recipients. Seems like plenty of other people knew what was happening.
