Should The Panthers Be on The Lookout for Eli Apple?

Collins backtracked on those comments

Mom is a headcase and a lot of the stuff you read, theres a ton of off the field stiff of going on thats imo has caused him to lose focus. The refusing help in practice could be him just being lost with the off the field stuff with his mom. Heck saw here this week his mom just divorced his dad after having a affair with a best man from the wedding.

You get Cam, TD, and Rivera in there as fayher figures in the locker room.  I think he has some hope.

I honestly don't see how that matters at all? Apple threw Collins under the bus earlier in the year too when Collins said that him and some other guys were reaching out to try and help him, then Eli said Collins wasn't doing anything where by numerous accounts he was.

Eli also sat out a game and retweeted a highlight of a Cowboy (his former college teammate) running over a current teammate to ice the game, then doubled down on his dumbassery and refused to see how it was a bad look.

Collins said what he said and then had a very PR like "retraction" about his statements. I guarantee you that he's not the only one who feels that way.

He has been such a knucklehead that they are suspending him for the final game of the season.

I've read all about his personal drama off the field. He's been coddled by his mother and he isn't mature enough to be an NFL player right now it seems. I don't want it in our locker room when it's not needed. There's plenty of other stories out there of Apple being a dumbass this year. He isn't even that good. He's not even worth a 5th round pick. Plus all that baggage?

Nah, I'm good.

We frequently get people suggesting we should go after some bad boy or problem child who's at the center of a recent incident because "our locker room is strong enough to handle it".

What never seems to be understood is that avoiding bad boys and problem children like this is a big reason why our locker room stays strong.

if you have been a Panther fan for some time.........

you know full well he is not an option.

Remember,

Richardson isnt going to be the owner after this year. I would normally agree with you, but with Richardson gone idk

I see Eli thats a kid who's mentally lost right now.  Mom is a headcase and he's dealing with that.  He's in a locker room thats losing right now and kind of a $hit show right now with the HC and GM stuff going on and some of the players turning on the old coach before being fired.  Its a terrible environment for someone like him to be in now.

Coming here, Cam, TD, etc are better people for him to be around right now than anyone there.

There's potential with using a 5th on him than Hurney drafting a 5th round guy anyways.

Apple needs a lot of growing up as an adult to do and his mother needs to back off and stay out of this part of his life and stop with the coddling him all the time.

Those are two things that are far from guaranteed to happen.

I wouldn't even call them likely.

    • He made some excellent throws but he always has made some excellent throws here and there. I don't know what to think, which is what I was apprehensive about. Is he going to have a decent downfield game? Because okay Legette dropped one, but someone was giving stats prior to the bye or during it where he had two downfield completions and one of them was the jump ball that is just launched and fingers are crossed that our guy comes down with it, and yesterday we saw that again. The Russell Wilson school of downfield passing.  I don't feel like that is sustainable, but at the same time you have to do Something to make the defense understand they have to defend that downfield throws. Like i said, confused.  I guess I'm going to review the game for myself and look closely at his mechanics and stuff because if he actually fixed that stuff it explains the better throws. And that has been my biggest objection, or what I see as the thing that makes or breaks his chances, that unorthodox dropback and tippy toe action and not having his feet set which limits velocity etc etc.
    • The negative Nancy in me (or objective?) says that they had a bye week to prepare for the Chiefs. However, it’s one thing to have a good plan and it’s another to actually execute it. For all the flack he’s received (from me as well), Bryce seemingly has put his head down and worked his tail off and his play is giving me hope. The first 18-game Bryce showed no progression whatsoever. He gets benched, comes back, and has shown steady progress every week he has started. I think I’m starting to see what the Bryce lovers and unconditional defenders were saying all along, and I hope he can show that on a regular basis for the sake of our QB1 position.
    • Yeah, we could still very well end up 4-13 with the 2nd pick.   I think LVR has the inside track for 1, with only a JAX team as a team on docket that could be beatable.
