Don’t forget Mayo and CAP were comp picks, the fruits of which came from letting guys go after 2013 for the betterment of our long term health.

I wanted to keep Mitchell, and in hindsight the deal he got from Pittsburgh was very solid and we could've matched it. We've sorely missed that type of attitude on our D for years now.

We're very fortunate to have Daryl under contract next year.  After that, looks like he'll be another big contract we'll have to deal with.  And he deserves it.

I can't believe Remmers got what he got... It's crazy. Daryl's going to get seriously paid if he keeps up this level of play. We have him, Norwell, Star, and maybe Funch but otherwise no huge contracts coming up in the next 2 years. And getting rid of Kalil and playing Moton or someone else will free up some more space.

The next Daryl Williams will be suiting up for the G-men while Hurney offers more extensions to Stewart, Olsen, and TD into their late 30s.  Good job JR!

If Hurney does get the full time GM job, and maybe even if he doesn't, I fully expect us to make Greg the highest paid TE and give him 3+ years guaranteed.

Name as many as you can off the top of your head.

hmmmm i could go on for days but here goes, no particular order. Handling of the smith situation, horrible idea of going into a season with nate chandler and byron bell as our tackles, the same lack in drafting a replacement for gross, neglecting the secondary, rescinding the tag on norman, handling of olsen and davis contract ext, over paying matt kalil, drafting 3 corners in a row.

some of these are forgivable or can look passed, but most were due to ego or some weird mindset of making things more complicated then needed

good pick but let's not get forgetful, Dg was let go for a multitude of bad decisions coupled with how he handled things,

If you think DG had bad decisions, wait till you see what Hurney pulls out his arz in the future.

Actually we have no idea exactly why he was let go - just speculation.

As for Gettleman's "mistakes"

'Smith situation' - getting rid of an aging and overpaid prima donna that was stunting the growth of your franchise quarterback does not sound like a bad idea.  I do feel bad he got his feelings hurt though.

'Starting Bell and Chandler at Tackle' - Bell and Chandler both started on the line in 2013, the year we went 12-4.  Gross and Wharton were Tackle options in 2014 but both retired.  We snagged Remmers who replaced Chandler toward the end of the season, which turned out to be a solid move.  We simply did not have the money for a big name, so we had to roll with guys that had starting experience with us.  Hardly G's fault we had no money to spend.  We could have drafted a Tackle in the 2nd.  The first 3 off the board after we selected Ealy were Britt (now a center), Turner (played in 2 games in 2014) and Moses, who was beyond terrible his rookie year when he actually got to play.  None of those would have made a difference.

'Neglected Secondary' - He hardly neglected the secondary.  He inherited Godfrey and Nakamura at safety.  He switched these out for Mitchell and Mikell.  Improvement.

'Norman' - He rescinded the Tag offer to Norman because Norman would not sign the Tag.  Gettleman don't play games.

'Olsen/Davis' - The Olsen and Davis contract extensions resulted from whining to the media.  If you are smart, you wait to see how Davis looks during the season, then work on a 1-2 year extension.  But this does not take into account people's feelings.  It will be interesting to see if Olsen, who wanted more money because of his past production, will volunteer for a reduction since he missed so much time this year.  My guess is no.

'Drafting 3 corners in a row' - I'm not sure that is against the GM rules, but we managed to get two starters out of the three.  Not a bad result.

Over-paying Matt Kalil - This assumes Richardson had a crystal ball and somehow knew Kalil would not be good enough for his contract prior to the signing.  I suggest this is not a reason to let a guy go before he had even played a down.

You may have issues with G-man, and maybe some are legit, but the ones you listed made sense to me.  The decisions he made were always designed to help the team - even the Norman issue.  He didn't want to pay Norman 15 mil per for 4 years and based on what I've seen of Norman over the past 2 years, Gman made the right call.

7. over paying matt kalil

8. drafting 3 corners in a row

1. It was a bad look but had no impact on the performance of the team which is all that matters for a GM. Cutting Smitty was necessary.

2 & 3. We were in cap hell in 2013 and DG had to correct that and unfortunately that meant being weak at some positions in a rebuilding year. This was just the reality after Gross' retirement. Overdrafting a bad OT or overpaying a bad OT would have been way worse. Taylor Lewan was the only good OT that entire draft and we were picking too late to ever have a shot at him. Free agent class was terrible too. DG's in charge of building a complete team and picking out a weakness not being upgraded as if it's a bad move is ridiculous.

4. Too broad to be considered a legitimate complaint, and see #8.

5. This one was a bad move but not terrible. The cap space freed up helped sign Mario and KK, but we could've been a playoff team in '16 with Josh and once you're there anything can happen.

6. Come on... He handled those completely fine.

7. Terrible move though I still question whether it was really DG or if JR forced his hand with this one. This was not consistent with any other move DG made in his entire career here.

8. Two of them are extremely promising and solid young corners. Sanchez was bad but whatever he was a 5th round pick.
