You're right. But that was also the best defense in the NFL (on 3rd downs). I'd say we did okay.

This! Your not usually going to put up pretty stats across the board against a very good team. The Vikings were the only team in the NFL with a top 5 offense and top 5 defense and were tied for the best record in the NFL when we beat them.

It was a tremendous win stats be damned. Just wish we had won the previous week instead.

Good thing we're top 5 at 42% on 3rd down, however the last 3 games we're 30th at 28%. The Packers are 9th on the season and 7th the last 3 games. Them 3rd and 2 downs we have to convert. I wish Shula just put 8/9 on the LOS and run J.Stew

3rd and inches, fug it shotgun quarterback draw or flea flicker

It's tough to light the world on fire when you are 13 of 25 for 137 yards in the passing game.

Take away the two long runs and the Panthers had 223 yards of total offense against the Vikings.

Including his long run, Cam had a paltry 207 yards of total offense.

We were, very, very lucky to win this game.

So if you take away the points we scored, we would have likely lost?

I understand what you are saying, but big plays are a part of an offense.  Its mostly irrelevant whether they come by running or passing.

I really don't know why people do this. You can't say without it, it happened. Big plays are a part of offense, just like big plays are a part of defense we had 3 turnovers recovered which we wasn't having

But as far as 3rd down, we have to sustain drives and at-least flip field position and try to pin offenses in their own 10 if we can't get any points out of the drive. The lack of that in the 4th quarter yes almost cause us the game, play-calling and conservative calls plays a big part

The Panthers have run 397 plays from scrimmage this season. Stew's 60 yard run and Cam's 62 yard run were two of the 4 longest plays of the year. They were an aberration. In actual fact, our offense was putrid against the Vikings.

We lead the league in number of rushing plays that went for 40 or more yards.  We are 23rd in number of passing plays that went for 40 plus yards.  But we are 25th in number of passing attempts, so its relative. We also rushed for 200 yards against one of the best d's in the league.

That being said, I think everyone knows that we have haven't had much of a deep passing attack this year.  Hopefully, its something that we can remedy before the season ends.  Byrd played fairly well in this last game, hopefully he continues to improve and becomes a decent deep threat.

BS. First of all you don't count stats by cherry picking the ones you like and ignore others.  Secondly we had that game in hand all day and two screwups one in defense and one on offense let them try and steal the game. They were lucky to be in the game at the end. The score was closer than the game was.
