Explaining the Panthers playoff scenarios

With the way the Panthers are this year, we should be most worried about the Bucs game. Last trap game of the season, Bucs will pretty much have nothing to lose and might play us like its their personal super bowl.

And then ATL will probably play us even harder if they win out. B/C in that senario , if they beat us at the end they win the division.

bucs have checked out fam. McCoy and David wont be playing on Defense.

The playoff machine is pretty fun . The first simulation I did had the Panthers get the #5  seed . Saints won the division but they are on the other side of the playoff bracket which I think is the best for us honestly. Cowboys snuck in and got the #6 seed. We host the Cowboys in a rather interesting matchup for our wild card round. We would have to play either at Eagles or at Vikings for the Divisional , and then probably at Eagles or Vikings for the Championship.

Week 15 : Rams beat Seahawks, Cowboys beat Raiders , Bucs beat Falcons on Monday Night (Before you kill me on this, theres always at least 1 unpredictable outcome every week in NFL that no one sees coming, I think the Bucs win 1 of their last few games and this is it).

Week 16 : Cowboys beat Seahawks , Raiders beat Eagles

Week 17 : Bears beat Vikings (resting starters, locked up the 2 seed), Cowboys beat Eagles, 49ers beat Rams in a huge statement win

The 6 seed would play the 3 and and 5 would play 4 in the wildcard round, right? 5 seed doesn't get to host a game, they would travel to 4 so we'd play in new orleans in your scenario.

Panthers were the 3 seed in 03 and hosted the 6th seeded Cowboys...

Highest seed always draws a home game vs lowest

Yeah, you read across for the matchups, not up and down.

    • Hey guys, remember when we won those meaningless games in 2010 and it cost us the #1 pick and the chance to draft Cam? Oh.... right I get that's more of an extreme example because it got us a HOF caliber QB.  But it's the general concept, you want to win late season games when you have the pieces in place to make a run the next season, we currently are not in that place. Herbert and Sewell are the ones I point to so much, because we literally lost out on 2 franchise different makers by 1 draft slot.  Give us those two players while we still have CMC, Moore, and the rest of the picks we gave up for Bryce, and we'd have been a legit playoff contender the last few years. Draft position matters in the NFL more than any other sport (other than the #1 pick in the NBA in a year with a generational talent).
    • It’s so crazy. If we had a shot for pick 1 and there was some generational player there then yeah maybe I could get behind the draft position argument. I’d say most GMs and coaches aren’t diving into the draft right now. They are trying to win games.
