At the end of the day the only thing that matters is where you're at in the W/L column. Why do you have such a hard on about his yards and stats? You don't sound like you're incapable of understanding the nuances of the game, but you are allowing your fandom to cloud your reasoning and judgment.

I'll fully admit I can be a Cam homer, but when the game is played, I don't care if he only has 150 yards passing as long as the team wins. You need to step back a bit and look at this from a different angle.

I blame fantasy football.

If you want stats, watch baseball, where the math is actually more exciting than the god-awful game itself.

Id honestly like to see him run up the seem and various routes while split out. I think he runs a good crossing route but Cam has missed on that throw several times.

Cmc has two problems playing for the panthers. 1. Cam is not an accurate short passer. 2. They wanna use Stewart as the lead back. On a team like the Pats or maybe saints he would put up bigger stats

Cam's actually throwing for his 2nd highest completion percentage of his career right now, but that's still only 60.0% while Breesus and Brady are completing around 70% with many more passing attempts as well.

Theres also a serious problem with our deep passing game this season. Literally none of Cams deep shots ever seem to connect this season. Not signing Desean Jackson in the offseason or resigning Ginn was criminal.

Hmm so what people are saying is

His production right now is best for our offense

Thats not what anyone is saying. His production was appropriate given the way the game played out.

That logic is like saying Punters have no value if we score TDs or 2 down linebackers have no value if we play nickel.

He's a very useful weapon when we need him.

Another week, another CMC is a disappointment, or I'm mad the coaches aren't featuring him ad much - thread.

Y'all were told from the beginning Stew would remain the starter. For obvious reasons that y'all dismiss.

In the beginning of the season, the offense was relying on CMC. Now, not so much. He's still seeing his snaps, and defenses are keying on him so they won't get beat by him.

CMC has been a stud for us, and has been used often. He continues to. Let's stop acting like he should be doing more cause he's not producing the numbers your fantasies think he should be.

Sorry,  that's not what I meant. I don't believe that CMC is an every-down back, but I do believe that he should be more involved in the offense as a change-of-pace back,  especially when the running game is not working (which has been plenty).  We're going to have to get serious about Stew's eventual replacement in 2018. I don't know whether that's  Artis-Payne,  but it would be nice to see him get five to eight carries a game to see if he's really the possible heir (or a pipe dream).

December and playoff run isn't when you do that (CAP) unless fate is already decided.

CMC's involvement in the offense has been huge, especially as a rookie.

They aren't going to up his rushes ease the load off Stew. He's the starter for a reason. Even if we were to lose Stew to injury (you better knock on some wood) CAP would see the greatest increase in touches from the the position. That's the way the offense is setup.

CMC should never be the Bell cow in this offense.

We should not have used the 8th pick for a backup. If we would have drafted fournette or Cook would they back up stew?

He was drafted to add a new dimension to the offense. Which he has. Quite successfully. Could you imagine this season without him. We are winning team, because of his involvement.

How much different would that new dimension be if we signed Woodhead or Burkhead or any other readily available pass-catching RB. There is a good reason these “important” pieces to any offense only make 4M a year, at most. And then drafted a legit top 10 pick?

Younger. Faster. Willing to learn. Cheaper (Until extension)

People forget when you draft a player - you are their first exposure to team culture in the NFL. It is much easier to get by in to the team from a rookie, rather than a free agent.

Also:

Woodhead - 0 TDs 62 Total yards

Burkhead - 3 Tds 268 Totals yards

Those are very mediocre numbers compared to the rook.
