Props to Bersin

I've been saying it for a couple of years now ... that was what you put Bersin on the team for: he will guaranteed make that one clutch, first down conversion play and hang onto the ball no matter what. (Okay, that was frikkin' scary watching him land on his neck like that). He'll play special teams, he'll catch a punt and get splattered when you ask him to, and when you need it, he gets you that one catch.

Good guy to have around in a tough spot.

Most of us, especially the ones who were there, have a hard time forgetting Bersin's fumbled punt return in the 2014 playoffs against Arizona that could've cost us the game.

But he's a reliable receiver who, while he doesn't get much separation, brings the ball in well and is a serviceable target for Cam.

Then again he was out of position and still trying to help the team. It was stupid to have him there to begin with.

People are getting excited and beating their chests because he CAUGHT A PASS. Jesus. I call this David Gettis Disease and lots of you have it.

Dude, you don't know what you are even talking about. Can you point me to where Bersin has ever hinted that he wants to be a "star" as you say? Maybe he's good with being a solid role player, contributing on special teams, run blocking and making the occasional first down reception. You are an idiot that clearly doesn't know much about football

Oh by the way. Literally nobody in the history of this message board has ever claimed Bersin was a star. You are off your rocker. He made an amazing catch today. What's wrong with appreciating that?

Remember a guy bybthe name of David Tyree? He was literally a JAG but made arguably the greatest catch in SB history. Doesn't mean he's a star. But give credit where it's due. Why are you so butt hurt over Bersin dude?

    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
    • Well, we got our answer on Army today.
    • Not a chance the SEC could compete with the NFL.  In the large cities that are not in the Southeast, (LA, NYC, Chicago, SF) College football is an afterthought.
