The difference is that Peppers and THIS defense isn't creating TO's and short fields for the offense....Guys aren't making big impact plays. BOTH sides of ball.

That’s out of context of this post. We are talking about the team demonstrating confidence, not if they are getting turnovers.

two things...they lack the confidence of the coaching staff. all this staff does is, despite their ability to adequately prepare the players consistently, drop the burden of blame on the players.

the saints DC talked about the panthers offense and said that we run the same few plays every game, just out of different formations. does shula not think that at some point this would become easy for defenses to deal with?

1. Rivera doesn’t blame his players, he defends them. That could be an argument for one of his weaknesses. He does not blame his players.

2. News flash every team in this league runs the same few every game. Mainly, particular plays are designed on the personnel on the field. Hence the QB draw with cam, the seam route with Gronkowski, the swing screen to kamara.

the word from the coaches is the players just aren't getting the job done. when you hear that consistently (which is what is getting said from the podium) it can affect your psyche.

he does the blame game passively. "we didn't execute well" is a common theme throughout. the blame is always squarely placed on the players. the big problem is there is never the absorption of blame from he or shula, which is a trait all good leaders exhibit. when you are a leader and the team fails, that is ultimately on you. it's your job to make sure that 1) the plan fits the team members' abilities (strengths and weaknesses) and that 2) the team members are adequately prepared to carry out your plan. as a leader you have to be able to not just have a vision and clear cut goals/objectives, but you have to be in sync with your followers and that just isn't happening.

fit what you want to do to who you have and make sure they can get it done. if they can't get it done, either you aren't doing a good enough job with the plan or getting them ready. don't come up with a plan and wish you had better players to carry it out.

this team has no real identity. i think that rivera and shula might have one in mind, but for some reason it's not carrying over to the team. i don't sense any confidence in the gameplan.

to address your comment from the previous one about the lack of turnovers and its relationship to the confidence level, the team relies on cam who feeds off of big plays from either the offense or defense. the players on offense aren't having a lot of big plays outside of cam. he needs to have the defense make some big plays and bring about some more opportunities. 2015 had a lot of energy because the offense and defense were making big plays and the defense was creating more opportunities with better field position for the offense and giving them something to be excited about and the defense fed off the offense.

we don't have anything. the excitement and swagger is gone and the only players really creating things is cam and luke. the defense is creating more pressure on the QB, but we just aren't having turnovers that result in better opportunities for the offense and the offense just getting stymied by an ineffective run game outside of cam whose successes come because of his ability to improvise.

Completely agree. Cam hasn't looked like Cam in terms of swagger since 2015. Where is the dab? the superman? The team feeds off that energy and there is none from our players.

There was so much whining here about the celebrations it was downright nauseating.

In 2016 he got beat like a drum behind a subpar OL from the very beginning, yet early on in the season the MVP Cam was clearly still there. It wasn't until the injuries began to pile that he trailed off.

2017 started off iffy because once again the OL was an issue, and even though we drafted an RB 8th overall, we still can't consistently run the ball to save our lives.

I get some fans expect Cam to save the day, but we need other playmakers to step up. So far very few have. That is the difference in 2017.
