Moose

The ball hit Moose in the hands, slightly behind him or not. About half of Jake's picks have been on tipped balls or through the hands of our WRs. Only about 3 or 4 have been purely on Jake (still too many though).

But 3-4 is very much more managable than 8. I've always put the blame on the whole team though. If it was truly just Jake, he would be benched (although I'm sure many will jump in and say that Fox would never bench him).

I was pissed at the announcers on that INT yesterday too, b/c I knew their dumbass commentary would bring the ignorant faction of "fans" out of the woodwork on Jake... They said it was a bad throw by Jake and behind Moose, but guess what... He threw it to the only place he could in the middle of three defenders.

If he would've led Moose, he most likely would've been leaving the game without a cranium. He threw it to his back shoulder and high, away from where the defenders were converging. I don't know if he meant to do it or not, but it looked like good placement to me.

And even if it was a result of just inaccuracy, the burden still fell on Moose. Listen to former receivers that are commentators now... Cris Carter comes to mind, he always says, if it hits you in your hands, you catch it. No excuses. Moose should've caught it.

Jake has left him out to dry on several throws this year, but like many of you have said, the receivers haven't done him a lot of favors this year either tipping balls up and breaking off routes.

All that being said, I don't think Moose has lost much of his physical ability. He still appears as fast and as strong as before... He just seems to be playing like non-contract year Moose. As someone else said, I don't know the Moose you guy remember, but the one I remember was notorious for making the spectacular catch and dropping the easy ones. He was known more for his drops than anything up until about 02 or 03, or at least that's what I thought. He seemed a lot more sure-handed the couple years before he went to Chicago.

I think he's fine, just playing like he's going through the motions. And as far as being misused, I think that's a product of the coverage they're seeing. Such as throwing deep balls to him instead of Smitty... Most likely we're doing that b/c safety coverage is rolling towards Smitty and they don't expect a deep attempt to Moose.

hmm... I feel different on this.. so FWIW, the ball was considerably behind Moose. Sure, it touches his fingers... but just like Smith 2 weeks ago (IIRC), some balls are way to behind the guy to make a grab on the ball.. We can go black and white on this, but his fingers are harder to hold onto the ball than his hands in general.

Jake + plus accurate pass = reception..

Now, Jake gets more blame here recently than deserved, but that play and the almost INT in the endzone to Smith were definitely Jake's fault... Minus those.. The OLine needs to shape up...
