Did Rivera ever say why they didn’t go for points before halftime?

This is precisely why I went after Person on twitter a couple weeks ago.

Two things going on there.

Ron is too comfortable with his job, and the fact that 8-4 is great as far as he's concerned.

The journalists are too scared to ask him the in depth, really tough questions.

In reality, it should be the other way around.  The writers should have nothing to fear, and Ron should be shaking in his boots....but we are the Panthers, and you know what that means.

The common sense screwups by the Panthers coaching staff grows weekly and they never, ever are directly asked

‘Did you communicate to your coordinators about play x’

why did you not override

do you feel you are no longer actively involved on sundays. You seem more passive than your peers

when you speak of missed opportunities what are the actions required for both players and coaches do it does not become a pattern

it is simply mind boggling

my only beef is Ron should of just taken 2 kneel downs.   Pointless risked players for no reason.  If you want to take it to the half then do it.

I get based on the score, getting the ball back at half.....why a defensive and running team would do that.

I mean, forcing a bunch of pass plays downfield shouldn't be done unless it really needs to be done.  Again, this is the Bersin territory of the season.   We ain't really equipped for that game

We got the ball on our own 19 with 46 seconds to play down 7 on the road.

Our quarterback is ranked 27th in passing accuracy and tied for 5th in the league with 11 interceptions.

We also have an extremely young and inexperience wide receiving corps.

One mistake and we're easily down 10-14 points at the half.

Now tell me why we should have been flinging it around deep in our end at the end of the half.

To be honest...because we are playing on the road, against a better team, head coach, and QB.

We know that Drew is going to drop points on us, and we were too scared to give it a shot.

If I knew which way that game was going to go, then the coaches damn sure should have...playing not to lose at it's finest.

I think they were playing not to lose by the end of the first half.  Down 7 with the ball starting the 2nd half is not a bad spot.  Down 14 is deep doo.

I understand Ron's approach to the game, but I don't respect it.

That's coaching scared to lose, while knowing that your job is secure...that's not a good spot.

Drive the entire length of the field with 50 seconds in a Shula Offense? Sack fumble anyone? It's simple, you don't risk it in a close game. It's just not smart when our offense has been prone to turnovers all season long. Dumbasses

Keeping an OC around that employs a system where it's not even possible to consider trying to score quickly is the "just not smart" part of this.

If you can't throw the ball around in 2017, something is really wrong.

One thing is certain, don’t do anything and here we are

send the fastest receiver on a go route to the sidelines and maybe, just maybe,  it might be intercepted but also might be caught or pass interference

two time outs and 46 seconds, take the shot, that’s what winning teams do, that’s the urgency  to make use of every single, offensive possession against a high scoring offense particularly when the defense is struggling

what did Rivera  / Shula do, find that hole and crawl in it  gutless

Conversely it didn’t bother dipshit Shula in NY with a qb with a right thumb contusion to not throw the ball 28 times   Nonsensical

Too, the Panthers have failed to get any free agent WRs and there were several to be had that would have not broken the bank.  They best fix that in FA this year. Worked for the Rams and Eagles. Could have any of the three. Woods. Watkins. Jeffrey. Instead they have scruffs. Well done

Yeah that's called playing not to lose, not to WIN.  You're the dumbass buddy.
