In every part of life there is a sense of missed opportunities.  In the Huddle, it rages on steroids, day after day.  We get the stats and videos of the guys we missed on.  Members regularly thrash management for their picks if others turn out better.  Same people are quiet when they lobbied for guys that became a bust or even worse when they complained about a pick that actually turned out well (see: Kuechly, Luke; Short, Kawann, etc.)
 

Thought I'd take my turn. In 2000, we missed on Tom Brady, although we did get guys like Rashard Anderson and Gillis Wilson.  Brady threw for over 350 yards in the Orange Bowl and brought the Wolverines back from a 14 point deficit to beat Alabama.  I watched that game and though that we should get him. How could management miss that?

In 2005, we missed on Frank Gore, picking Eric Shelton instead.

In 2009, we took Everett Brown and kept from getting stuck with guys like Connor Barwin, Max Unger and LeSean McCoy.

Pretty sure you could do this any and every year for almost every team. Each year, a team does a great overall job on the draft.  We'd love to have this year's Saints draft, but it is an anomaly. 

In summary, we are terrible.  We could only wish to be as good as Cleveland. ( Actual W-L record puts us near the middle, buy everyone knows stats are or losers) We should fire the owner, all management, the cheerleaders, parking attendants and implode the stadium - bet we could do that better than the Falcons or Lions did.

Frank Gore had two ACL tears in college. Would you draft him? Or are you simply playing the hindsight game?

In 2009, we just lost Julius Peppers. Yes, Brown was the absolute worst choice for a DE, and Barwin would have been a much better selection as a pass rusher. However, like Brown, Barwin doesn't have the size to put his hand to the turf and play DE. Why Max Unger? Ryan Kalil was already established as an elite Center. Lesean McCoy - at the height of double trouble? DE was a much bigger need than either C or RB.

In other words, delete this.

Did you seriously just pull the "we missed on Brady" card? You realize there are 31 teams that missed on Brady? 

You are blaming management for that? You realize the guy who drafted Brady has been fired and now is an assistant? 

What kind of post is this man. Put more effort in. No one knows what a player's career will look like before it starts. See Cadillac Williams.

Peppers was still on the team in 2009. 

Brown was drafted to decrease peppers negotiating power in long term extension talks.

I was completely playing the hindsight game.  Wouldn't draft him then, but would now.  I bet 31 other teams would take Kamara with a pick before 67.  Just trying to point out anyone can play the hindsight game at any point in history - my bad for not throwing in a sarcasm font.

We got who we got - so we shouldn't be mixing in fantasy football with the real thing.

Actually 32 teams missed on Brady.  The Patriots passed on him 5 times before taking him in the 6th round.

It did start out like you were being sarcastic, but the whole "I thought I'd take my turn" sounded like you were being serious about it. Sorry if that wasn't the case.

I agree about fantasy. I stopped playing it in 2010 and the game is once again enjoyable. I don't worry about "OMG fug! Cam just threw a pick with 1 second left at halftime. I'm screwed." Now I just think "Hey, we finally tried to do something before the half. Baby steps..."

Brown was drafted in 2009, but we used our 2010 first round pick to trade up for him. Dez and Demaryius were both drafted in the 2010 first round and would have been available at our draft slot. We don’t trade up for Edwards if we would have gotten either of those two.

I was going to say something similar,  but not as in depth. 

You can't simply look at possible draft or free agent acquisitions so simplistically.  There has to be some context in order for the point to be legit.
