What frustrates me about the offense ~

Cam holds the ball around the same time as Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers. Mobile Qbs tend to hold the ball longer, it can lead to big plays or losses. However, Cam's tendency to hold the ball isn't one of my concerns about the offense.

The biggest frustration about the offense is their inability to run the ball consistently even though this is Ron Rivera's biggest emphasis for what he wants out of the offense. Panthers are put in so many 2nd or 3rd & long situations because of Rbs getting hit  in the backfield or rush for 1 yard.

“And trying to get open” So when no one is open, which happens a lot with this bunch you would rather just see Cam throw it away?

If Cam conceded the down every time a play broke down or no one was open I’m not sure we’d ever score on offense.

At the end of the day Cam is a playmaker and yes, it doesn’t always look pretty but it’s something you look at and go “I’ll take the good with the bad”. Because the good outweighs the bad and it’s not even close.

Let Cam start throwing it away, and/or forcing the issue and INT’s start piling up. These folks would then start to complain about that. Not to mention that if he throws it away more, and his completion % goes down, they’ll complain about that as well

This is a prime example of the average Panthers fan.

They clearly don't actually watch poo. They just come here to litter the same canned opinions about Cam Newton.

Next time you're thinking about starting a topic. Don't.

This is a prime example of a person who thinks they know more than everyone else.

They clearly read others to reply instead of to actually read it.  Canned opinions eh?  26 QB faster than Cam in time to throw... ok....sure...lets go with that.  Dilly dilly.

Next time you'r thinking about replying to a topic.  Don't.

Since this thread is garbage I figured I’d use it to thank you for Kevin Maitan.

Looks like the Braves may have rushed him ahead too quickly last year. Hopefully he bounces back this season. Still only 17

Cam was on point against NO. He made great throws all game save the deep pass to Byrd.

What bothers me about the offense is that it consistently seems lackadaisical. They could get to the line quicker, call the plays quicker. I really thought the O came to play on that first drive. But they reverted to the “ Oh don’t worry we’ll get an opportunity” approach. If our defense wasn’t as good as it is they would get embarrassed.

You can’t  expect more than one to two 3 and outs against the Saints offense and not score. It’s unacceptable and ultimately why we lost. I don’t blame the defense for this game one damn bit. They did the best they could with their backs against the wall. And that’s not on Cam it’s on the offense. WR’s need to catch, Clay needs to hang onto the ball, Ron needs to stop being a pussy.

Exactly...they're making gameplans to run the ball, win time of possession and keep our defense fresh..which is scary considering we're not good enough at running the ball to make that a good offensive strategy and our defense has been poo the last couple games so playing to them makes no sense. Outside of the first series our offense was crap until we went nohuddle and uptempo. Cam balls out like that, I just wish they'd mix it up and go to that sometimes before we're down 2 scores in the 4th quarter. We remind me of the Favre led Vikings under Childress...we're going to run the ball and play slow regardless of effectiveness until we're down enough and then say fine Cam/Brett go sling it and play fast and the times it works the coaches pat themselves on the back for a great game plan. Best chance right now is to let Cam go "Rodgers-esque" and hopefully he plays MVP Cam level that we're seeing glimpses of but the coaches just need to get the fug out of the way. Our whole team plays better when we play aggressive and fast and it's obvious

Ron a nd Shula are garbage they do not deserve their positions. Anyone with a brain can see what needs to be done but they want to continue to do it their way . All these players except a few have checked in to collecting paycheck mode..They see what the management is and just dont have the heart ..Too much has happen to our core under this regime..its either new players or new coaches.

Cam holding on too long

lmao. are you serious.

watch aaron rodgers play. one of his amazing attributes is patience in the pocket. while it looks like his o-line's doing the dirty work, in reality aaron rodgers subtly shifts and moves with patience to force the defense to stutter and slow down. his patience allows him to be considered one of the nfl's best qbs in the game right now.

most qbs get too antsy and throw too quickly when a bigger play could've developed, and there are those who indeed hold the ball too long without any feel for the pocket. that's bad qb play.

cam newton is much more like aaron rodgers in his mastery of the pocket. he's able to feel around and understand what's going on. he's patient enough to wait for his reads to develop and understand whether he's in trouble or not. when matt kalil completely whiffed his assignment, cam smartly immediately threw oob to avoid the sure sack. when cam knew his oline would hold up, he moved around a bit and stayed patient in the pocket to wait for his reads to develop.

that isn't bad qb play. that's elite qb play and stuff elite qbs do all the time. cam had his best game this season against the saints, and im not sure any other game is even close, even considering the patriots and lions performances.

and how does this supposedly mean that's a good thing. get the ball out faster leaves the bigger and better plays on the board and often shows a qbs impatience and lack of understand of what's going on.

holding the ball for a while is actually good when a qb like cam newton or aaron rodgers understand and feel the pocket. they know how to get away from pressure when need be and whether they have plenty of time to go through their reads and progressions. cam looks for the right play when he has time, and it does wonders.

like i said, watch aaron rodgers play. he does exactly what cam newton does all the time in terms of being patient in the pocket. and it works. that's what makes rodgers elite, and that's what makes cam elite as well, even when everyone tries to ignore it.

put cam on a team with a half decent supporting cast and he'd be breaking passing records right now. people try to underrate his ability as a pocket passer too much just because he also runs.

box score experts these days. smh.

    • Lower floors than AR coming out, or lower floors than AR now?  Are you counting that he has proven to be a productive goal line back?  AR as a prospect had just about the lowest floor you can possibly have.  Probably the same as Milroe.  Dart's floor looks a lot closer to backup QB to me, but the issue is that his ceiling doesn't look too far from that either. It's crazy that teams are drafting scratch off lottery tickets at QB with 1st round picks.
