Defense needs as much blame

Our defense let them put 31 points on us. Let that sink in, every thread is fire Shula fire Rivera. How about we put the blame were it belongs on the Defense shoulders. We have two over the hill safety's , Corners who couldn't pick a ball if it was thrown at them, and a Dline that couldnt stop the run or hardly get any pressure.

These were issues in the off-season and we didn't address them. We needed a safety, a DE, a corner that were young and hungry. We could of addressed these in the draft and free agency but instead got "offensive weapons" and old dudes. Now we are sitting here watching those weaknesses completely lose a game for us.

Stop blaming a bad offense that was only good once since Shula took over. They are what they are and nothing's going to fix that except firing the OC which won't happen.

I blame JR and down. It's JR's team. This is the way he wants it. Losers make almost as much as winners. throw away a once in a generation talent to follow the status quo.

Shula crawled into a shell today and did nothing to help the talent on the field.

Two special teams turnovers killed us, but it is very frustrating when a top defense is supposed to beat a top offense and yet our defense just cannot stop the Saints offense.

mistakes happen. humans and all.... but calling the same game over and over is coaching.

The Defense giving up touchdowns hurt us the most let's be honest. 3 play TD drive?! A first drive TD? This defense is suppose to stop fast scoring teams and slow them down. We are weak in key areas and it should of been addressed

Feasting on bad teams has severely overrated this defense. We have a good D, but not an elite one as our statistics would say. Front four pressure is still a problem, and secondary play is still a major problem (how long have we been saying that one?). With the amount of draft picks and money we have poured into our defense, there is no excuse as to why we can't shut good offensive teams down.

Very true. I'd say not keeping Norman and  drafting 3 corners was the start of big mistakes. Topped off by not drafting Lattimore or Barnette. Just shameful choices. We could have 3 good players instead of 1 corner.

Sure there is an excuse - Gettleman botched the Norman deal and then panicked and reached on corners that should not have gone anywhere near as high as they should have. Bradberry should have been a late 3rd-early 4th, Worley 6th or 7th, and Sanchez undrafted.
