Sure, let's remove the two outliers - 15-1 and 6-10.

That leaves us at 33-17 and two division championships. Definition of mediocre right there.

Two winning seasons since 2009. We can all cherry pick the numbers to fit our purpose.

I just think it's funny that you're basically mocking those who don't want to "blow it all up" while essentially celebrating Gettleman's firing. Gettleman's firing WAS blowing it all up.

a lot of people need to disabuse themselves from the notion there's a ron rivera without a mike shula.

This is my concern. I think Ron wants a yes man at OC and that's what Shula is. He dealt with an ego in Chud and is afraid to do it again. He wants a ball control offense and I think he knows that most decent OCs aren't going to want to settle for merely controlling time of possession especially if they have a QB like Cam Newton.

Way too many fans are hanging their hats on these playoff appearances while ignoring the fact that our record was MEDIOCRE and we only went to the playoffs because our division was pathetic. 15-1 will really skew that overall winning percentage. Right now everyone has to be admitting that 15-1 feels like a fluke.

I agree with you 100%, it's like this bullshit fanbase expect that every year now, unbelievable

when does the coaching draft start?

I believe it should start after this season if we don't get to the NFCCG and be competitive. But truthfully man it's not all Ron fault. People can say whatever they want, but talent wise we're lacking in some key areas. The secondary is weak. How far do you expect to get with a weak secondary, without a super dominate front 4? How many times do we expect Cam Newton to take a bunch of 3's to the SB? How many games will Cam be our leading rusher? Any competent GM can see this and make changes from coaching to players. The problem is JR and his general managers.

Jesus fugging Christ.

Y'all are losers. You like losing. It makes you feel vindicated to see failures you "predicted" rather than see us succeed. So you're fine blowing up a team that is 48-27 in the last five years, with playoff appearances in three of the last four (likely to be four of the last five) seasons to go through extended mediocrity while our two stars are in their prime, just to feel like you were right.

You're entitled, narcissistic and utterly devoid of logic to the point you look at an 8-4 team set to likely make the playoffs, with an exciting rookie, two all-league players on offense and defense, and the return of our most reliable target and say "fug it, let's tank". You're content to cede our division to New Orleans or Atlanta or, god-forbid Tampa, to demand a moronic rebuilding that isn't needed.

You want to commit team suicide to prove a point, because y
ou like losing. It's what you're comfortable with. Easier to whine and b*tch while losing than look at success in the face. You stand back and worship your fallen idol general manager and want the team to tank to prove you were right... meanwhile real fans want our team to win, and win now. And we see a team that has won twice as many games as we've lost and has our playoff fate in our hands - the hands of a team that's been the playoffs in three of the last four seasons.

You're pathetic, and we deserve better fans. Grow up.

If you're ready to leave after one loss, go ahead. The door's right ahead. Don't let it hit your ass on the way out, and don't try and come back in the playoffs. We don't need you, and this team doesn't need you.

I love you are you married.

Nope. This is Gettleman's roster. Nothing is "blown up". Closest we got is trading KB, which the Huddle had a typical rage fest ever but has pretty much been proven a good move as of now.

I don't know if he's a yes man so much as just somebody that Rivera is comfortable with.

Anybody who's spent significant time in management or leadership has probably encountered two types of people: someone they really liked who wasn't very good at their job, and someone they couldn't stand who excelled at it.

When you're in that position, you have to decide what's more important: the success of your organization or the atmosphere of your work group.

Keep person number one and you probably won't enjoy your job as much, but you'll be more successful.

Choose number two and you'll enjoy greater workplace harmony, at the cost of having sacrificed organizational success.

It's a sad reality that a lot of the NFL's most successful people are total dicks.

Rivera is as nice a guy as you could ever find, which is why it sucks that he isn't better at his job.

Well then, if you define this as a successful season, that would mean that every successful season we've had since Rivera became head coach came with Gettleman shaping the roster.

Funny, huh?

You just can't settle for mediocrity. As a sales manager more than once I've sat good people down and basically told them they're not cut out for the job. Let's get your resume in order and figure out what you want to do and where your skills fit because this isn't it. I'm not going to put you in the unemployment line as long as your attitude stays good and I can see that you're working on trying to find something else, but this isn't a long term option for you.

Honestly, all but once they appreciated it. They already knew it wasn't the right fit for them and were just complacent because it was a check to keep the bills paid. That's not what I'm looking for.
