The difference is we may be coming off a 11-5 or better season this year not a 2-14 season with a new coach and a team with little talent like in 2010. We went from 2-24 in 2010 to 6-10 in 2011 which was a big improvement. Hardly a germaine comparison from then to now.

My concern with new ownership whether its Jerry selling or when he finally passes is I'd soon be reading the San Antonio or St. Louis Huddle after the team moves. More than anything, I want the Panthers to stay in Charlotte.

So what did happen in 2012? We had a vacant GM spot,  we had a new OC and we started off a miserable 2-8. We ended winning 5 of our last 6 which carried over to 2013 where we went 12-4 and in the playoffs. We still went 7-9 which was a slight improvement over 2011. So the next 2 years will be a slight improvement upwards from this year? Sorry I don't see your point if there is one....

i really dont think this would be an issue. Jerry wont sell the team to someone who has mind to move it. it nothing else, he is loyal to the vision of having and keeping a team in the Carolinas.

IIRC the team is going to be sold after Jerry dies.

Some thoughts : we need to bolster the run game and phase stew out. Use armah and let cmc and cap run from the I formation more often. We don’t really need to get another rb Between cap and cmc we can run if we use a fb. We don’t have good receivers so we need a good run game. Stew will be 31 next year and his production is declining

Fundamentally Agree... I would like to see a new GM fire Rivera and promote Wilks with a directive to replace Shula. I like coach Rivera and think he did a nice job of rebuilding this team, but it's time for our coaching staff to evolve.

And yes, I am fully aware of what that means as far as transition. I'll still take it over more years of mediocrity, eventually followed by that same transition. Right now, I believe we're just putting off the inevitable.

All that said, nobody believes we'll even be firing our offensive coordinator. 

This (except GM) should have happened when Gettleman was hired. Hell, this should have happened when he was fired.

Typical Panthers/JR bullshit bullshit clinging on for far too long. Looking at other decent teams they seem to move much more quickly than the Panthers. JR loves to drag this poo out.

Fire a GM, hire a new GM but keep the old GMs coaching staff, fire new GM re hire before said fired GM, keep the same coaches, now JR will keep the rehired fired GM and fire the coaches far too late....all while making sure everyone is happy and a family environment is kept at the cost of success.

Do other teams do this? I still can't believe this garbage happens over a 3 year period and some still seem to be so in love with the trash meddling owner.

JR has always done this but the saddest part of the equation this time is the fact we have more talent than I believe we have ever had since the mid-90s and for the first time a franchise QB and JR pisses it away.

It's not so much I hate Rivera. He may do real well with the next team he is with. There are very very few coaches in the NFL that stay with their team longer than 7-8 years. HCs 'run their course' and when there peak is over, you move on. I like Rivera but I feel his time here is done. Also, a new GM usually has a lot of pull in choosing the new coaching staff, unfortunately JR does that for this team and forces the organization to be put together rather than letting people do their jobs and put 'their guys' they want in place. Even so, a new GM should mean a new HC for the Panthers for a lot of reasons.
