Rivera can put together a championship level defense no doubt. He's a good coach who his players like. Rivera needs a championship level OC and he'll be fine. If Sean Payton ran our (present players) offense we'd be spanking everybody.

This. It's very frustrating to me because I honestly believe that if he'd send Shula packing and hire a real OC it would be a dramatic difference. I just have zero confidence tha it'll actually happen. Quite the opposite. I have a near 100% confidence that it WON'T happen. Of Shula somehow conned or blackmailed his way into a head coaching job somewhere I'd bet money on Dorsey being the next OC.

That wasn't "poo happening". That was poor decisions being made, and even the Bronco players were incredulous at just how bad those choices were.

The coaches weren't smart enough, and unfortunately that game isn't the only example. If you look back at a lot of our lesses since the Super Bowl (and many prior, to be honest) you'll see the word "outcoached" applies to a good number of them.

While I don't totally agree with your sentiment,  I agree with it for the most part.  Like you, I absolutely don't believe that we're good enough to win it all,  and I blame Gettleman mostly for that, though Ron gets some blame as well for not maximizing his weapons and sticking with Shula. 

As for being close,  you know the saying about being close,  but yet so far.  I haven't really made up in mind just how close or far that we really are because we're consistently up and down.  It's hard to get a handle on us. In general,  continuity is the ideal, but there comes a time when changes are necessary because things just seem stagnant and stale when you repeatedly fail to reach your goal. I can't say that that time has come yet, but can't say that it hasn't.

I would like to see what Ron can do with a team that doesn't have a deficiency that sticks out like a sore thumb like a suspect LT and lack of playmakers at the position of receiver and DB.

I think that next year could be special with the right acquisitions.

i seriously don't understand people. we're 8-4, had won 4 in a row, and lost to a juggernaut of an opponent on their home turf, and people are starting threads saying we should fire everyone and start over? 

you do realize there's 25 other teams in the NFL that would kill to be in our position. 

I've seen teams try to start over. I've seen teams start from the ground up and completely rebuild, and I'll tell you this, it's not pretty at all. In fact, it's complete and utter hell, and there's no guarantees in this business. Take the Niners for example. They've been through 3 head coaches and 3 absolutely miserable and bottom dwelling seasons since Harbaugh left, and even Shanahan and Lynch are only 2-10 this year. So that'll be 3 straight seasons of 5 -11 or worse.

just relax, and take the loss like a man. We played like absolute poo today. 2 special teams turnovers, countless boneheaded penalties, receivers not running to the sticks, and some horrid officiating to add. poo happens. This is the NFL. 

We have the next 3 games at home. Just make the fuging playoffs and anything can happen. Hell, both of the times the Giants won the superbowl they were a wildcard team with 7 losses in each of those seasons. 

Regular season games don't mean poo unless you're fighting for that 1st round bye, and right now, we're not. So the whole point is just to get in the playoffs by any means necessary and use our playoff experience to our advantage, something the Eagles, Rams, and Saints don't have much of.

Maybe it is time for a new HC/coaching staff along with many new plays added to our playbook and use ones we already have but never use that may be useful that teams have difficulty stopping.
