Worrisome stat

The Panthers allow 1.6 fewer yards per rush when defensive end Charles Johnson, who on Friday was suspended for four games, is on the field. According to ESPN Stats and Info Carolina gives up 3.3 yards per rush while Johnson is on the field and 4.9 when he is not. That's significant.

There's a reason he was still in the lineup despite being a very below average pass rusher.

Exactly,  CJ was so good at setting the edge and defending against the run. Too many people measure a DE just by sacks. It allowed Pep to come in on passing downs to pressure the QB.

I hope Horton can fill in but I am worried about stopping the Saints. We have looked vulnerable at timed against weaker rushing attacks.

Could be a bit misleading.  Johnson usually doesn't play on passing downs, and if a team runs on a passing down, they can pick up larger chunks of yards simply because the defense is geared to stop a pass.

Exactly, where is the context

Charles Johnson doesn't have a roster spot cuz he's worthless. He doesn't get to play time he gets because he's worthless. It's absolutely amazing how dismissive you fans are any player that does not produce in your fantasy land. Charles Johnson's impact was much bigger than just his production on the field. If you understood that then you might have a freaking clue.

This... A draw play that gets 10 yards on 3rd and 16 will definitely skew the average.
