I know there has been some debate on this. Here is the coach's film view. Safety had the angle on him on the outside. Looks like maybe he was hoping for at least a little help from Funchess in blocking. He got none.

In my ignorant opinion, If he goes outside he might get tackled at the 30 or 25 at best the 20 and the position Funchess is in would be a block in the back.

I love how people watching the game on TV know better than a first-round draft pick which way he should cut on any given play.

We have a large number of coaches of the year, NFL all pros, and top tier GMs posting on this board.

Yup.

Great run, but a slight misstep....I'm not mad.

I mean, this right here explains a lot:

22 McCaffrey, Christian RB 5-11 205 21 R Stanford
26 Worley, Daryl CB 6-1 205 22 2 West Virginia
40 Armah, Alex FB 6-2 255 23 R West Georgia
92 Butler, Vernon DT 6-4 330 23 2 Louisiana Tech
91 Cox Jr., Bryan DE 6-3 270 23 R Florida
17 Funchess, Devin WR 6-4 225 23 3 Michigan

^The 6 youngest players on the team. People wanna call 3 of them a bust though, just like they did the sixth.

You could pretty much take every single play on the field and say, at some point, "well if he would have just done this"...

You're never going to have someone who makes all the right decisions. It's  enough to have someone who makes more good ones than bad ones.

FYI: This also applies to quarterbacks passing.

If funchess had just bumped his guy a little it would have been 6 points. Lack of help from 17 hurt more than not sticking to the outside.

This is how I feel.

He needed a lil help but with this crazy debate about our or in imo he accomplished what he was trying to accomplish get by the safety just happened to get tracked by a non blocked CB. The move worked regardless how we see it the move was to get by the last line of defense and he did a dam good job of that.

Wonder how this happened...or is it just the way it is on team boards?

Maybe we got spoiled by Cam overproducing his rookie year, or maybe KB with his 1k rookie year?  Either way, it takes a couple years for most of these players to put it together.
