Wes Horton appreciation

With the depth our line has, it's easy to forget about some of our depth players. Wes Horton got a well-deserved spotlight this week for his sack-fumble, so I looked up his stats for the year and it's pretty neat: he only has 10 tackles on the season, but three sacks (fourth on the team) and two forced fumbles. These sacks just aren't numbers, they've all come at critical times.

His first sack, against San Francisco, came early in the game. It was a strip-fumble a little over halfway into the quarter that set the tone for our defense and set our offense up with great field position, and we scored a touchdown with it.

His second sack was on a vital drive at the end of the third quarter against Atlanta, when we were leading 20-10. He sacked Matt Ryan for a six yard loss on a second and one, and the defense was able to hold for a three-and-out.

And of course, his most recent sack probably saved our game and gave the team the spark we needed to finish strong.

Wes Horton might not be a big name, but he's making big plays at big moments for us.
