Time for some consistency.

I find myself hesitant to go all in with the Panthers going deep into the playoffs at the moment.

What I need to see from them is consistency. String together several solid wins both at home and on the road. It hasn't happened yet this season.

If they can win the next two games, I believe they are bound for the NFCCG.

Win against the Jets and lose to the Saints.... Playoff road game where I am not too confident.

Win neither..... Well.... Worst case scenerio. Mediocre record, no playoffs.

Panthers are 7-3.  Tied for 4th in the NFC.  Currently hold a wild card spot.  They've won 3 straight.  I would consider that consistent.   It's hard to win in the NFL.  Lots of other teams would love to have the Panthers record right now.  Not sure what you are expecting.

If we go 13-3 and the Eagles go 13-3 and the Vikings also go 13-3, could we possibly have the 3 way tiebreaker for the 1 seed? Head to head against the Eagles we wouldn't have obviously but the 3 way tiebreaker is different.

I think the game this week will tell more about this team than the one next week.

If they come out and handle business against the Jets, I think it is a great sign. It’s hard to gauge much against a divisional opponent because those games tend to be a toss up and the records usually don’t matter.

Looking sharp against a surprisingly game jets team after they have had their bye and have had two weeks to prep for our team, will say a lot.

If the panthers come out flat and lay an egg in NY, we are going to be looking at the tie breaking procedures for the wild card for the rest of the year.

I think it's conference record and Vikings lost to steelers. All of ours are nfc

Would like to add. That it also looks as though we are headed to the Playoffs for the 5th time in the last 6 years. Pretty consistent from where I am sitting.

Sure, there are 6 games left. And anything can happen. But man, we are in prime position to be a pain in the azz to the few teams above us. They all know they have to keep winning, or we could very well catch/pass them.

I could be wrong. But I think the first criteria is head to head among the three. If you have lost to either of the other teams. You are out. Again, I could be wrong, cuz, that track record...but then again. I could be right.

I agree. We need to show that we can compete with the big boys. We've had the luxury this season of a cupcake schedule against some bad defenses that helped get us by with Shula's playcalling. If we had the same schedule as last year or the year before, we could easily have a losing record right now. Shula still is and will continue to hold back the full potential of this offense.

We have 3 NFC loses already. We are not likely to win too many tie breakers.

And, while I am probably a bit more optimistic, it is hard to argue with what Jeremy wrote. The next 3 games are huge and will pretty much set us up for whatever outcome lies ahead for this team.

Here are the procedures for breaking a 3-way tie:

  1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games among the clubs).
  2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
  4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
  5. Strength of victory.
  6. Strength of schedule.
  7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
  8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
  9. Best net points in common games.
  10. Best net points in all games.
  11. Best net touchdowns in all games.
  12. Coin toss

Philadelphia owns the head to head win.  Minnesota and Philly do not play in regular season.  Panthers would lose out in virtually any tie breaking scenario with the teams currently in the playoff picture.

We had one really  bad loss and two to the best teams in the NFL.

    • The agenda was building around Bryce.  2 WR, 3 olinemen, TE, and a potentially elite RB.  I stood up for Bryce all last year because I didn't think you could evaluate him properly with what we had last year in coaching, play calling and personal.  Bryce was the 2nd least pressured QB in the last 2 weeks because of the money Morgan spent on the line.  Despite Bryce looking horrible I'd say Morgan has had an exceptional beginning as GM. Here some more things I liked. Trevin Wallace looked like a banger in preseason.  Resigned Brown.  Gave Horn his 5th year option and Horn is playing very well. *Flipped a 7th round pick for a starting CB in Michael Jackson who has also played well. Filled a depleted roster with solid vets and if you really look at the cap this is a 2 year play.  Almost everyone except the 2 elite guards signed a 2 year deal. Did not pay Stephen Gilmore 10 million for one season. *Got the 0-2 Rams 2nd pick next year. Set a culture and tone of the type of players we want.  *Dawgs. *Elite GM moves.
