Can someone explain how this is a good thing? Unless Rivera goes with him nothing is going to change and you all know damn well Dorsey will get the job and just continue doing what Shula is doing right now

Ron Turner would be second in line actually.

That linked article does not even mention Shula. Am I getting a different link that other folks? I know you guys would love this. But are we that bad that we are using phantom articles to throw shade at Shula?

I read that article twice. No Shula. Teaser bait op.

True, AFTER the season is over, but not when he still is OC here. He's not an alien like Belichick who can block out distraction and noise on a regular basis. Shula's clearly very human. No way he can stay focused while pursuing another job. Few can do such things well. If he wants out already, to go the college route no less, that's a screaming sign of trouble in the here and now.

Even if they want Shula as their guy... he would not be leaving until the season is over for the Panthers.

Ole Miss maybe a middle of the road at SEC program but they are still a SEC school and will be able to pick who they want.  Sure maybe waving his hand saying “hey I want that job!” But something tells me a middle of the road at best NFL offense coordinator may not be even on the radar

LOL! People really nut hug this hard on the SEC? They can pick whoever they want? I guess that's how they ended up with Hugh Freeze last time with his two whole years of HC experience, one at the D-III level and one at the D1AA level.

Ole Miss is a mediocre program regardless of conference. They're not gonna be able to go picking and choosing like they're somebody. With that said, they can still get a better candidate than Mike Shula.

As first reported by RebelGrove.com following the Egg Bowl Thursday night, Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Mike Shula has interest in Ole Miss, a report we can confirm through conversations with sources in coaching, agent and media circles this week. However, it’s unclear if that interest is reciprocated. Shula spent four seasons as the head coach of Alabama from 2003-2006, where he compiled a 26-23 record and twice finished third in the SEC West.”

Take this for what you will

Where did you find that piece that you quoted? Cuz it isnt in the article you linked

Hey im not a college football fan, only watched 2 games in the last 3 years. But that’s the case for the SEC, the perception anyways.

First. Yes, the SEC is the cat's meow of College Football. Who do you have as the top Conference? ACC? lol

The SEC has Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Florida, and even Tenn. The ACC has Miami....maybe Clemson, and that's about it. The Big Ten has Ohio State, Michigan, and maybe Michigan State, and Wisconsin. So yeah, the SEC is the premier league in College Football.

Second. If you can succeed at Ole Miss. You can write your ticket. Precisely because that Conference is such a bear. If you can elevate that Program? Folks will defiantly notice you.

Third. Regardless, Ole Miss is a stepping stone school. If they do somehow get a quality coach, that can elevate that program. The chances are, that coach will eventually leave for greener pastures.

Lastly. Mediocre program? Considering there are only a dozen or so Top Tier Programs. You can say that about almost every College Program.

In conclusion; Ole Miss views themselves as a Storied Program. And they want to get back to where they once were. IMO, the only way they can do that, and have sustained success. Is to find an Alum that can get them where they want to go. Someone who will still stay, even after they have attained success.

They are 65-511-35 all-time. Theyve won exactly two divisional totals since 1963. Yes, the SEC is the best football conference in the NCAA year in and year out but that doesn't change Ole Miss' historic mediocrity.

Middle of the road SEC programs can't just get anyone they so choose. Not even close. Hence why Ole Miss ended up with Hugh Freeze the last time around. That's my point.

Alabama, LSU, Texas, Notre Dame, USC - those are the types of programs who can get whoever they want not the likes of Ole Miss, Arkansas, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, etc.
