Could Devin Funchess Be The WR1 This Franchise Has Been Looking For?

I don't understand this fanbase's obsession with this mythical "#1 WR".

I don't care if we have a guy getting 1400+ yards a year. Given Cam's tendency to lock in on guys and force the ball, it might actually be a good thing to not have an elite guy, odd as that might seem.

While Funchess has become a good WR we need more WRs that can get open. Bersin and Co is the reason why Cam forces balls and locks onto his best WRs. 2011 and 2015 were Cam's best years because he had multiple good WRs. We made a huge mistake no going after D.Jax this year simply because even if Cam locked onto him he would get open and make big plays.

You should probably keep reading before poo'ing and typing, but you do you.

Samuel was showing some progress lately but hes had very serious problems staying healthy. Not worried about Funchess at this point but he needs a legit WR2 to take attention off of him, preferably a speed guy, or if not just a very very good route runner with good yac.  Don't be surprised if we draft one high. I haven't scouted out the 2018 receivers yet, but Christian Kirk looks pretty good. Him and a healthy Samuel subbing out opposite of Funchess could be leathal with 2 speed guys .  I doubt the organization trusts Shepard , Clay, or Byrd, but i'm acknowledging the possibility one of them could break out in this last stretch of the season. Not banking on it at all though.

I can’t really agree with this one. Wasn’t Bersin on that 2015 depth chart?

I think we neeed another big body slow possession receiver for this offense to work

in all seriousness, I think we will follow the eagles WR blueprint and grab a veteran #2

funchess being out alshon

samuel being our oblaghor (however it’s spelled)

then whoever we bring in being the T Smith.

Funchess, Ginn, Cotchery, Olsen, Philly Brown, Bersin were our WRs. Notice how he was our worst WR.

This year.

Funchess, Olsen, Samuel(IR), Bersin, Clay. Notice the difference.

He's the #2 we've been looking for. Don't settle. Still need a WR better than what we have.

They completely bungled when we got Shepard instead of Desean Jackson. I personally would have made due with Moton at LT or found a cheaper solution, and did whatever i needed to do to get Jackson here. He's exactly what Cam's been missing for most of his career, and when he had it partially with Ginn , that's when our offense was the most dangerous.

I don’t think I understand the point you are trying to make. You knocked bersin and said we need better receivers like we did in 2015. Bersin was on that roster. Not just that, take Samuel away from IR (because we are talking about the roster not injury status) we have a lot of similiarities between this year and 2015. We didn’t have households names then and we don’t now.

also replace “this year” with “this week” in your comment hahah.
