Hunt's been a complete ghost lately.

Kamara's in Sean Peyton's scheme, so of course CMC'll be outperformed because Peyton >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Shula.

Still a very dumb take if you can't see Samuel has been one of our best WRs on the field lmao.

LOL “one of our best”. All that means is he’s better than Russell Shepard and Brenton Bersin... What an achievement!

You tried arguing with me about Samuel’s hands right after we drafted him. Samuel has proven his hands are far from sure things this season. When you’re not a natural hands catcher it limits your ability to pick up YAC because of the way he needs to turn his body to body catch a lot of passes. That’s not what we need from a gadget player/slot player.

So again, we needed a true WR not Curtis Samuel.

I wasn't so much on the McCaffery bandwagon because I don't think taking a RB in the top 10 is a good move for the most part. Also, I thought our OL was pretty shoddy, so I didn't expect him to be able to run effectively without that being fixed. Furthermore, I didn't think Shula would be able to adequately utilize him in our offense.

Nothing against McCaffery at all, just didn't like the move. In hindsight, appears as if it is proving to be a wise pick because he is settling in and we are using him quite effectively. Hopefully that continues.

So because quite a few of those teams boofed the 8th pick, it's okay that the Panthers (possibly) did as well?

Nice to see us redeeming ourselves at #8, 8 years after the Busterson pick, though. Really great that we took JA98 over Revis, Willis, Lynch, Staley, and Beason...:eyeroll:

Certainly that was a factor, but his size has absolutely nothing to do with his main strength--his vision and patience when running. That wasn't there his rookie year as the game slowed down for him, but now it's the reason he's such a great running back. McCaffrey has shown he has similar vision and patience when running before and when the pro game slows down for him that'll come back.

It had everything to do with Bell’s improvement. He always had vision and patience. Just didn’t possess the agility to make it effective in the NFL until he dropped 25 pounds. As a Steelers fan for 40+ years, I’ve seen every snap Bell has taken. He didn’t just magically develop “vision and patience” over an off-season.

As of now we definitely didn't goof the pick up, considering CMC is such a huge part of our offense.

Could we have gotten better value? Sure, and that's debatable. But the player himself is not a bust.

then there was no reason to draft him no?

No. Heaven forbid we draft a RB with the talent to do much more than just run the ball. Too many folks are simply too caught up in the lack of rushing yards CmC has produced thus far. But then again, that is something the average fan is obsessed with. RBs run, WRs catch the ball. Simplicity at its finest.

Too many fans can't see the forest for the trees.

I knew it was a mistake to respond to you. I usually don't respond to folks who communicate via hot takes. So I will not be making that mistake again.

    Happy Holidays to you.

McCaffrey's defintely not a bust. He's not some transcendent HoF game breaker either. He's been very solid and valuable contributor, and if he manages to stay healthy and keep picking up lot of first downs , touchdowns, and blocking well , he's probably well worth the pick . Just having two very good checkdown options (Olsen, McCaffrey) make a world of difference in how our offense performs on 3rd down. McCaffrey has been a gigantic reason why our offense is currently #1 in 3rd down conversion percentage, even though we're the 17th rank total offense.

I think Olsen's going to change things quite a bit for McCaffrey. If teams keep ganging up on CMC on 3rd downs then Olsen's going to shred them for big gains down the middle every time. He's going to take alot more attention away and McCaffrey will have more space to move after the catch I believe.

Imagine if we got Lattimore or Hooker, Samuel, and Kamara or Hunt from this past draft.

Ding. Ding. Ding. .

Don't get me wrong, im rooting for the kid, but RBs in the 1st continue to be a no go for me. That' McCaffery, Zeke, or Fournette. But I admit I'm a tad extreme.
