Mike Palardy Compares Himself To Drew Brees As Both Backup QBs Were Out Today

So, what it comes down to is this. You like Allen, and want to figure out a way that we can draft him.

Which is fine. IF, you think this team is set. That this team, as is, can compete for a SuperB owl. Because otherwise, using a 2nd round pick, on a QB, for future considerations. Is a huge gamble.

I put the need at backup QB, for the last time for now, much higher than you do.  Perhaps not on a DE or safety level of need, but higher than you and apparently others.  The reasons have been stated.  We’ll see.

So much so, you inferred that Palardy had to QB practice today? Come on man. Most of us know DA is on his last legs. Most of us know we do need someone to groom.

Gilbert looked good during preseason. And has stuck throughout the year. He does seem to be in the running.

Other than that. All I can say is, most teams don't have a quality starter, let alone a quality backup. Trying to draft one, when you don't really need one? Could be a waste of resources. And leave your roster a player short.

Your fear of losing Cam, who has missed a total of 4 games in his career, is blinding your judgement. Build the team first, then get your backup. We are close. But we are not there yet.

I dont think we need to pick up a QB in the early rounds.  We do not need a QB controversy,  there are a number of fans who always want the backup to start.  I do think we need a replacement for Anderson, if the coaches arent comfortable with whos on the roster then we should draft one no sooner than 4th round.

I'm not so sure a first round QB is off the table next year.

At some point you have to start grooming a replacement, and the Packers did it the right way with Aaron Rodgers.

Mind you, I'm not necessarily advocating this notion, but I do see it as a legitimate possibility.

The Packers drafted Aaron Rodgers when Brett Favre was 35 years old. Cam is 28. Using a first round pick on a QB shouldn't even be a thought for the Panthers right now. Cam is still in his prime and will be for several years.

I doubt it.  Most teams aren't going to waste a first rounder when they feel they have a good qb for at least 5 more years.

Besides, how good of a qb would we get with the 32nd pick in the draft?

The QB class has been a disappointment, but if there is a surefire, true franchise guy at 32...we should trade back to the desperate QB needy team.  Cam is our QB for another decade.  But would much rather invest a late 2nd on quality than crap away a day 3 pick on $hit.  Backup is a major need.

QB's are currency we should start and keep drafting QBs like the best teams do and trade them away for steals. NE been doing this and others keep trying so yea we should draft a QB in this draft since it's the best QB draft in a while....could turn a profit.

There was a great write up on this(or show i forget). If you knew football you'd realize the value of it....hardly any QB's can play these days and if you got 2 you got value, premium value.

Teams like us who pass on future starting QBs in the 3rd are doing other teams a great favor.

Hell no. Favre was 36 and already mulling retirement when Rodgers was drafted.
