If the Panthers switched to a 3-4 Defense...This is what it would look like

Did I misread this part?

More or less. I'm acknowledging that we have some players that are not "prototypical 3-4 guys," but I don't think it really matters when you tell a probowl DT to attack a gap or shade one way or another.

I understand that we have a good defense and that we would switch to it this year or every. BUT....If we wanted to it would be interesting. Say we got rid of Ron Rivera tomorrow because he had a sex scandal(totally hot right now) and we brought in some young gun to help our offense that wanted a 3-4 next year.

i think rivera hinted when he came here that there would be some 3-4 looks in the D based on his background in san diego. i believe people were expecting more of a hybrid defense than what we've got.

aside from not wanting to get away from what we have been pretty near dominant at overall the past few years, i think we could pull it off or pull off using more 3/4 formations than we do...i just don't see a need for it.

I enjoyed the read, thanks!

The responses in this thread is why it’s better to just come on the huddle and sh!t post than to even bother trying to generate any type of conversation.

Haha. That's just life. Sometimes if you don't describe exactly what you think the message gets misconstrued.

I would like to see this place talk more about football than other bullshit that goes on in the NFL though. If women can talk about routes... then so can we guys!

It's the bye week and we're bored. Kind of like that space between the draft and training camp. It's either come up with random poo to talk about, or actually listen to the crap they're playing on pandora at work. Personally I'd rather staple my ears closed with railroad spikes than listen to this gawd awful off key caterwauling they're playing. How is this poo even considered music?

Jesus Christ people he’s not saying we should. He’s just theorizing for shits and giggles. Gd.

Personally I thought it was a pretty solid bye week thread considering what else we’ve talked about this week. Would read again

I don’t like it. I like the 4-3 with a little 3-4 mixed in. Peppers is good anywhere but like him in the 4-3. Hall and Butler will have to be replaced in these designs. TD soon as well, as his speed is declining...though at a slow pace.

Maybe it’s just me...I know there are more 3-4 defenses in the league and it’s seemingly better in passing situations and college guys coming out better suit it but I just like the 4-3 looks and when it’s dominant, it’s just amazing. I like feeling more dominating by power than speed and I think the Panthers do well with it.

But that’s me obviously whatever a coach and players excel at is what’s best.

    • Honestly Bryce is a conundrum right now I'm not really sure what we should do with him but I am content on him being the quarterback number one going into next season. I think we should allow him the chance to play out the season to prove that he's the quarterback he can be going into next season.  I would not waste a high draft pick on a quarterback because I'm not sure anyone in this up and coming class is as good or has the ceiling that he had with that said I wouldn't throw away the future I would bring in someone like Justin Fields to have him looking over his shoulder and give us a plan b if everything doesn't go right on a one-year deal. I think the priority right now if tepper wants to make a big splash is find a way to get Travis Hunter that would be option 1AA because he helps with both sides of the field either way whatever you need defense or offense. Make that happen and then go mostly defense the rest of the way and we're cooking.
    • Move on from what?   Let me guess we gatekeeping on who we can and can't appreciate?   Next time I will just make a Kuechly appreciation thread lmao
