Hurney scouting?

Funchess was a high second round pick that Gettleman traded up for. He traded quite a bit for a player that's been mediocre beyond a few games in his career. Klein was a dumb pick. Stacking the LBs yet again, great job, I hope he does great for a divisional rival because we had 0 room on the roster for him. Williams has been bad to mediocre, and again Dave TRADED UP for him.

I don't even know why I'm bothering, I give up. You guys can take his horrendous tradeups, and first to late round wiffs as some great talent evaluation if you want. The guy was far below average in drafting and free agency.

He caused Carolina to have the fewest draft picks in his tenure. He also caused the Panthers to overpay so many poo quality free agents that left half-way through the season or at the end.

Shame he didn't trade a first round pick for a high quality defensive end like Everette Brown, right?

Or maybe a high second rounder for a gamebreaking receiver like Armanti Edwards?

And hey. he certainly never tried to trade up for a player as good as Jimmy Clausen.  I mean, imagine how good a team we could be right now if that effort had succeeded.

Aaaahhh, what could have been...

Most teams do fairly well with their first round picks.  For example, only one of Gettleman's 1st round pick's isn't a starter at this point.  If not for us, then for some other team.  But as long as Hurney is not allowed to trade the pick, we should be ok in that regard.

The Cleveland Browns say hi

Geez next year’s draft class is horrible. Really even wonder if we’d hit someone decent beyond round one. Not many stunning or good prospects at all, and the depth is bad.

It’s probably one of the worst in years. And sadly, we invested a decent bit in this poo of a class.

If Hurney’s our GM, I hope he can learn from his hiatus and mine those diamonds in this wasteland, because tbh I could say we should forget expectations of anyone decent beyond the first.

And surprisingly, this time it wouldn’t be Hurney’s fault. This draft class is awful.

Marty Hurney gets a lot of flack for a lot of things well deserved, but his first Round draft picks(the most important) were money, even after he left first time around I joked about how I wished we could keep him here just to make our first pick.

Jeff Otah? We gave up two first round picks for him so that's 3 bust years. Jon Beason was a bust. So that's 4 bust year s out of 12 years. So that a 70% hit rate. Not really all that great when you factor in the average pick range is around 10. I will say this, before Hurney it was ugly. Like we had terrible GMs.

Jon Beason and Otah were bust now? Kindly fug off, sir.

We didn't give up two first round picks for Otah. History revisionist.

We gave up one first round draft pick for Jeff Otah not 2 and honestly from a purely draft pick perspective it was a hell of a deal! it was a 1(which turned out to be 28th pick in the draft in 2009 with our 12-4 record), 2nd(2008) and 4th(2008) for Philly’s 19th(2008) that we traded and the dude was awesome his first year(not a scouting problem) dude just couldn’t say no to food. He literally ate himself out of the NFL.

otah only counts for 1 bust because we basically drafted him with the  2009 first round pick that we had.

Jon Beason made the pro bowl 3 times and was AP all pro 2 Times. And you call that a bust? Rofl!!!

I know I am late to the party. Per usual. But, I want to play too.

IMHO, Hurndog, as a drafter, was basically decent. Although Gman may have been a better drafter. I would still only give him a grade of good.

However, where Gman excelled, and Hurndog not so much. Was filling out the  bottom of the roster. Gman was very good at finding those cheap reclamation projects.

Guys like Ginn Jr., Oher, Mitchell, Coleman, etc.. Those guys made our roster better. And that was something Hurndog just never seemed to get right.

Eh its not exactly Weak

It isnt as deep as last years that was deepest in awhile

Better and deeper WR, DE, and OT class this year compared to last

While the RBs from this years class look good thus far but this 2018 class is a lot deeper.

QBs are deeper

Well since he's gonna be around for the next few years I hope he hits on a few late mid-late rounds picks this time.

His late round gems I'm not too worried about, Norman, Munnerlyn and Hardy were all 5-7th round picks.

2nd and 3rd is where he killed us.
