I had necrotizing fascitis (the flesh-eating bacteria) in my left foot when I was a kid. That hurt pretty bad and had we not gone to the hospital as quickly as we did they likely would have amputated. Had to do antibiotic infusions for a couple of weeks after.

Major abdominal surgery.  You really dont realize how much that area of your body is used for almost every movement you make until you have some docs pull your guts out.  2 weeks of hell trying to recover.

I hax hernia surgery. It was on my right hip area. At the same time i had a hydrocele (dont google that poo) removed. 

Had to have a catheter put in. Was constipated from the pain pills. Had to get out of bed every so often to empty the piss sack. It was outpatient surgery, and i got a hotel room to stay in since my house has steps. My then girlfriend was supposed to stay the week to help me. But she was crazy and got pissed that i was not paying enough attention to her and left me by myself. I had to order pizza everynight because i could not drive.

It was the worst week of pain i have ever experienced.

I went back to work the next week.

Took 3 surgery's of drilling and scraping into the center of my eyeball over several months to get it fixed. More nerves in your eyeball than anywhere else and the pain was unbearable at times and there is nothing to be done for relief.

Also, laying awake during surgery while completely immobilized on a gurney and watching a drill coming for the center of your eyeball is the stuff that nightmares are made of. 

I was working under a model t one time and dropped a wrench on one of my eyes.  I had to go to the doctor the pain was so bad.  Not my worst pain ever but right up there. Yours sounds horrible.
