Cam is better without a #1 target

Not true, Cam is just better without KB. I really wish we would have given him D. Jax or Jefferys. We would be a much better team.

Agreed. I have never been more disappointed in FA than when we passed on DJax. I thought he would have been a terrific fit here.

Whose Tom Brady's number #1 target? Great QB's don't need #1 targets. Great QB's make the most of the opportunities the defense gives them. It seems like Kelvin took away some of those options by only being a big possession receiver. We saw this in 2015 and apparently its still true.

The truth is, no one's ever seen him with a true #1 WR. Smitty was old when he got here, KB was never a true number 1 whether it be problems with his motivation, catching consistency, YAC, or getting enough seperation from defenders.  Funchess has been good past couple games , but is he really a dominant force ?

I think Funchess is good enough to be the primary target. Cam really REALLY needs an established veteran speed WR with hands like Desean Jackson . If Cam had Desean Jackson at WR2 and Tyron Smith at LT and we move Moton to RT, we'd be world beaters.

Uh Smitty had like two 1k yard seasons with Cam

I can't seem to make this a topic on its own, so...are we a blue collar team and if so, what the fug is wrong with that? Charlotte tries to play itself off as a cosmopolitan city, but in sports, we are grinders. The Panthers have always been last second, beat of a heart win types. I think it kind of matches with the city. At any rate this was going to be it's own topic but nature happened. The point is, why try and make us what we are not, we are not flashy, we are grinders, and win or lose that is who we have been for over a decade...IJS

I was watching Highly Questionable on ESPN and the guest host had a great quote. Something along the lines of , that he felt sad that the Panthers organization has failed to truely help Cam out from a WR persepective :  Trade away your #1 (KB), They got a guy who was a TE converted to WR (Funchess), they got a RB that was trying to convert to a WR (Samuel) , and a RB whos more of a WR (McCaffrey). And theyve missed out on a whole plethora of good to great free agents that could have massively helped out.

And even when they initially got KB and Funchess, in my opinion it was a stupid move to just focus on getting big targets for Cam who had/has a propensity to overthrow and miss high. Thats not on the receiver , thats on Cam. What they shoulda done was draft the best pure WRs they could have , if they did that we could be siting here with Allen Robinson instead of Kelvin Benjamin, Tyler Lockett instead of Funchess (Albeit, Funchess has come on recently) , and JuJu Smith Shustster instead of Curtis Samuel. And we also coulda picked up D.Jackson in free agency instead of Russell Shepard.

Whew boy.
