Saints clearly the best team in the NFCS, and it's not close

Aints have peaked too soon. We will hit our stride in the 2nd half like we always do. We will have Olsen back also. I'm not conceding like you guys. Most division games are close. We have alot of motivation. This will be for revenge and the division.

Did the Panthers peak too soon when they went 15-1? Or did they just play good ball?

Peaking too soon is a silly argument.

Meh

who looks unbeatable changes every couple weeks.   I am not ready to say the Saints belong in a class of their own yet.

Panthers tonight have played “okay” and likely can match their win total tonight.  No team IMO should be labeled in a class of their own just because of that fact

Brees posted a 104+ NFL passer rate in his 3rd season in San Diego. That is WAY better than Cam Newton has ever posted.

Brees without Payton is not Andy Dalton

BUT as a passer Cam Newton IS Andy Dalton, just not quite as good:

Dalton career NFL passer rating: 88.9

Dalton career passing TD's: 153

Dalton career passing yards: 23953

Newton career passer rating: 85.4

Newton career passing TD's: 146

Newton career passing yards: 23750

And by the way in Newton's magic 2015 MVP season he posted a passer rating of 99.4 (his best ever by far).

Dalton posted a 106.2 the same season...

You forgot to mention Dalton's postseason record. Also the fact that if you take away his All Pro LT this year(something Cam has never had) his stats drop a lot closer to Cam's (with a worse win %). People can talk about numbers all they want, but you need the same players with the same personnel and the same staff for it to be relevant. Look at Dak yesterday when his All Pro LT wasn't playing. The only season Cam's line (including LT) was playing solid was 2015 and look what happened...

Cam plays a different game than any other QB in the game.  Using traditional standards to compare will always favor other QBs....because it frankly ignores have of what he does....nowhere in that QB rating does it reflect Cam since entering the NFL has picked up more first downs on the ground than anyone on the ground for example.  Kinda important stuff you know.  He is top 5 of course this year in that as well.

You are comparing the greatest duel threat QB in the NFL (I’d argue all time already has been established) and ignoring half his game to make your arguement....which is intellectually dishonest.

Pretty dumb timing to make this thread. Everyone knows we're going to beat Cutler and McCown and roll into New Orleans at 8-3. Everyone knows the Saints will lose to the Redskins or Rams and also roll into our matchup at 8-3. Maybe wait to make this thread until after our December game against them?

Panthers?

Yep, and you guys have been demolishing inferior opponents.

I think our defense will be better against you the next time, but playing in the Dome is going to be tough and our offense is still going to have to score 3 TDs+ to win... not going to be easy in the least.

You guys look like 2nd best team in NFC right now... hope with Olsen/Byrd coming back we can improve enough on offense to keep up down the stretch

Tough for me to say second. Eagles, Vikes, and Rams all playing damn good football.

That's true too.

And I'm certainly not conceding the division to you guys just yet. As good as the Panthers D has been, if our offense can do their part we can compete with anyone. We are hopefully getting our best offensive weapon back in 2 weeks in Olsen and the offense is going to hopefully continue to get better.

Not ideal to still be working things out this late in the season but this has been a weird year with Newton recovering, etc.

Saints fans know as well as anyone what matters most is getting into the playoffs and then how you play then. 14-2 or whatever is just numbers when the playoffs start.

The Panthers are definitely a 2nd Tier NFC team right now, but a lot can still change.

I'm just hoping we can win these next 2 and be ready to play in the Dome in a few weeks.
