DG in retrospect

If you're just looking at it all objectively then it's a wash really.

Both Hurney and Gettleman made moves that ultimately put this team in position to win, but they also had their share of gaffes that have unequivocally held us back.

We need better.

I was bringing up his draft ability. I don't disagree his ability to manage the cap and do things outside of drafting was good. However, there were a bunch of people including myself that thought he was a good draft guy. In retrospect it doesn't seem he did that well. That BPA thing didn't work out making strengths stronger because our weaknesses got way weaker in the process. He was also too selfish in negotiations and I would say a team with Norman and Bradberry would be incredible.

Right now we are in a bad spot in certain areas of the team because of these wasted picks.

i.e.

Either KB or Funchess was a waste because they are the same player.

Vernon Butler is a bad pick that maybe when he's devolped will be good but why get a depth development player in a area of strength in the FIRST round. Bad bad bad.

3 corners in one draft?

I just wanted him to help our needs more. We needed young guys at Tackle, Safety, DE, Speedy WR, TE.

Can you imagine just one of those being filled in the first rounds we had? We would have a compliment to Daryl without needing to pay Matt Kalil, a guy to compliment Kurt, a guy to learn under Peppers, a guy to take the top off the D, and a guy to compliment and learn from Olsen.

Just one of those would have been incredible.

Instead we got a great DT, big slow WR, a backup linebacker, a developmental DT, and a RB that can't run.

You will be fine with the pick after Thomas Davis retires. It was a future pick.

Again. You pick a future pick in the first round. A type of pick that's suppose to help you immediately for the future? Sure if you don't need a lot more help in other areas immediately. I would argue a first round safety, DE, or Tackle would have immediately helped our team in the super bowl and years after more than Shaq has. Still a great player no doubt just I don't like the pick.

Hitting on 50 percent of his picks? I’d take that everyday and twice on Sunday’s. Some of y’all have extremely unreal expectations of the draft.

Yep 50 percent is a good rate no doubt.  I loved the FA signings for good contracts and yes Kahlil was a major gamble but we had to have an OT.  Gotta role the dice.
