Cam Newton is a Magician

Gee whee whoop. This is a very beautiful thing.

Just keep your eyes on what Cam Newton does.

When I was watching this replay, I had to rewatch to see where my eyes were tricking me. The Panthers execute a very beautifully designed misdirection play to perfection, down to the point it even threw me off.

Cam Newton ultimately ends up handing it off to Samuel, which for most people it would've taken a few more replays to finally see how he does it.

Good stuff.

Can needs to get more plays like this and we just may start killing teams with them especially the Saints to cause them some grief and a loss in a big way. With making plays like this we could own the division and get a spot in the SB and possibly win it all. Down side would be teams would eventually catch on and end our domination fun.

Cam has always been good at selling the fakes, I think he is one of best I have ever seen at fake hand offs.  Most QBs just do a motion , but he actually puts the ball in the belly and holds it there a sec and then pulls it out.  He also fake throws a lot on handoffs which you very rarely see from other QBs

I think its because his hands are so big. He can jerk the ball back from the rbs gullet when alot of qbs would prolly fumble.

It was a good play but I saw it pretty easily in real time and it's clear the defenders knew what happened, Samuel just outran them to the edge. Good design and Cam faked it as well as anyone can but it really wasn't anything all that special.

Plays like that, and it was perfectly executed, are what make me think we are just now hitting our stride. Better days are ahead.

That play is special and it did in fact delay Falcons reaction time to deal with it.

I wouldn’t be so sure.

Notice all the linebackers biting hard when Cam threw to the left. Throws them off and out of sync, and Samuel outruns them for the first.

34 was just staying with his assignment in Samuel, not really because he knew exactly where it was going.

Looking at that replay, the only defender who knew what was happening was #34 (Poole).  The LBs followed the fake throw.  The LDE stayed in place covering the "read option" with Dickson.

If it hadn't been for #34, that play would have gone for much more yardage.

    • I didn't say much bigger. Watch the highlights I linked. Bryce doesn't have the arm strength and/or talent to make the vast majority of the throws Mac made in that video.
    • Tetairoa McMillan.   The last 28 1st overall picks were either a QB, DE, or OT. Seeing as I don't think we'd take an OT in the 1st and give up on Ickey as an LT yet and there doesn't seem to be a clear overall #1 type of QB or DE pick this year, it very well could be a non conventional #1 overall this year, at least in regards from the last almost 3 decades of drafts. If we didn't have Horn, I'd be more open to Hunter as a CB at #1, but we have him so another CB wouldn't be how I'd use a #1 pick.  And as much as I love Legette, if we have SB contending aspirations, I don't think Legette is a #1 on a team like that, but he damn sure is an elite #2 on a team like that.  He's more of the Smith/Higgins/Waddle to Brown/Chase/Hill (in terms of role/impact, not style of play of course). T-Mac is going to be the top ranked WR on every team's board in the end.  He is going to be a true outside #1 WR who is viewed as a consensus Top 5 WR in the game by his second contract in the same way guys like Jefferson and Chase have done.  His height combined with his speed, athleticism, and hands are near impossible to find all in one player, there is a reason his generally used comp is Mike Evans (although as he's not as thick, I personally see him more as an AJ Green). Yes, as an Arizona alum I've admitted to having bias towards the player to begin with.  But he's also someone very widely being put into the Top 5 in mock drafts lately and most of them have him as the first non QB offensive player being taken, so it's not really THAT much of a homer pick on my part anyways. If a QB or DE truly separate themselves as being a can't miss prospect come draft day, I'm open to that discussion, but until then, or if it doesn't happen, T-Mac is my pick 100 times out of 100.
