Cowboys losing fans because of Jerry Jones?

There is a guy at work who was a Cowboys fan and used to talk trash all the time.  Today, I saw him wearing a Cam Newton jersey.  Shocked, I asked him if he's finally seen the light and he responded affirmatively that he will support the Panthers now.  But the interesting part is that the genesis of his conversion was Jerry Jones comments where he threatened his players if they protested during the anthem.

That's what I thought too, but this Cowboys fan who is African American really took it personally.  It's very strange.  I don't think I would ever not be a fan of the Panthers because of what the owner does.

I would think that over the years he has turned people off enough that they no longer pull for the team.  He is so arrogant, loud, and attention seeking it would be difficult to want to see his team be successful, IMO.  I hope Goodell gets a new contract just because JJ opposes it....lol..  That guys (Jones) really turns me off.

Difference is, Cowboys fans were either fans of the team before Jerry was owner, or their parents were and they were brought up Cowboys fans. We only know Jerry Richardson as the owner/founder of the Panthers. He is the Panthers, good or bad.

People are fans of the Cowboys in spite of Jerry Jones not because of him. The loyalties are with the team, not the owner. We can apply logic around fandom that would apply to teams like the Panthers, Falcons, Jaguars, Texans, etc... That logic does not apply the same way to teams such as the Cowboys, Packers, Patriots, etc...
