Rivera has good defense based off of good players playing at an excel rate . They work good as a unit. I give him that until we go into prevent defense and loose lead or almost loose. He has no skill set on the offensive side. He is a coach that is inconsistent bc he does not trust his offense..Everyone saw that when Cam wanted to go for it on 4th. Cam has gotten tired of the coaches not trusting the offense. Running up the gut 3 plays in the row shows this as well. Cam plays better fast not all slow...He does not understand his QB after 7yrs with him. They still don't help get Cam in rhythm. We could have kept KB and did what we did Sunday...That catch that Shepard did mot catch and we settled for a fg would have been a KB catch and therefore would have ended the game. Julio would not have had the opportunity to score a TD probably. I think this is where most of the Rivera ? Comes in at..Either hhe is wuss and scared of his players or his slow and it takes everybuilding to crumble or catch on fire before he decides to get out of the area.

lots of speculation here. I'm sure someone is buying it though. So keep selling brother.

I can't believe anyone defends a coach that STILL has no idea how to handle clock management in the NFL.     We're talking about a team that STILL can't get plays down to the field in time and wastes timeouts all the time because of this.     He's also a coach that cannot make adjustments.

And yes, there are worse coaches than Rivera, but there's probably close to same amount that are better.    If you're cool with being mediocre and want to stick with Rivera (and probably loved Fox in the say way) more power to you.    That's the Panther way, leading the pack with mediocrity.    If you want to have a yearly winning team (winning record, key words) then Rivera is NOT that guy.      Face it,  this team should have got Andy Reid that year instead of Rivera.

I don't completely blame Rivera, as Richardson is really the ultimate issue with this team, and always has been.

Ron Rivera record since hired as HC 59-45-1 Playoffs 3-3 (Coach of the year 2x and Super bowl appearance)

Andy Reid since we hired RR 61-43 Playoffs: 1-3

Also, Andy Reid wasn't available until 2013

Good thing we have these message boards to share our opinions, and facts. @Zaximus who is your favorite football team?  Maybe we can chat about them for alittle bit.

Dude, it's a Panthers message board, they are my favorite team lol.

Andy Reid is a far better coach and I would have fired Rivera for him haha, at that point, I guess Rivera still had some years left to prove.

If Andy Reid had Cam Newton as his QB, Cam would have multiple MVP's and possibly a super bowl by now, at the very least, more playoff appearances.

So any time one of our starters goes out for a game or two and someone steps up its all "new".

Ok

Yeah.

That's football.

That's sport

A star player or am integral psrt goes down or is traded any team in in any sport is gonna have to adjust, find a new rhythm, and if that doesn't work find something new.

Out of all the things Ron has said to pick apart this is put up front and honest.

This thread is ridiculous. It was started based on a quote taken out of context, and has gone downhill from there.

Are there times I get pissed at Ron Rivera? Of course. Every fan gets pissed at their head coach at some point.

Do I think all of this overreacting is just flat out asinine? Hell yes. We are 6-3, likely about to be 7-3.

How about everyone just go sidle up to the bar and order a nice big cup of chill the fug out?

Just watched the presser. In fairness to Rivera, the comment was regarding the recent personnel changes, not the whole offense identity thing. Clearly, TOP via the run game is a big thing to him, but he complimented Shula on opening the play book with more misdirection, PA, reverses, etc., and wants to see the ball spread around with occassional deep shots. To top it off, he wants more TE involvement besides blocking. Sanjay should be ecstatic.

Well, as head coach he should be ensuring his coordinator does what is needed BEFORE the game so it isn't a discussion point in a press conference after

Sometimes Rivera is mind boggling . I mean he is the head coach

John Harbaugh? Yeah, his team has had a rough time lately but he's got a ring and has fielded numerous contending teams. Rivera is not in his league.

I don't think Ron is leagues worse than Harbaugh. The BIGGEST problem with Ron is he's so conservative. And that he's stubbornly refused to change. He has no trust in this offense and that seeps over to our defense when he reverts to soft cover 2 poo.

If he changed back to even half of riverboat Ron he'd be Soo much better.

With our owner and how he runs things I'm not confident we'd get a HC much better than Ron if he fired him. OC is our big issue. He can't coach or adjust. Ron is literally dying on this OC ship.

haha, if thats the case...then give me Sean McVay.

Wouldn't hurt to say something positive every once in awhile :)

Facts are we are 6-3 with Rivera. This is a solid team, and as long as we get W's on Sundays, then we should focus on how we are going to get to the superbowl to support the team!
