If you were consistent, wouldn’t be a need to call you out. Can’t whine when someone calls out the owner or the coach, but be all willy nilly with the criticism when it’s one of the players. I’m going to call you out.

And yes, I am a “Cam fan” and have no problems admitting that. He’s my favorite player, and contrary to what you and a few others on here believe, many people out there have favorite players that they go to bat for. Just because they have a fav player, doesn’t negate their fanhood in anyway. So, cut it out with the “I’m a better fan than you, you only joined because so and so player” shaming tactic.

Check my resume, though jack. I’ve been on this board since 2008, long before Cam. That’s 10 years I’ve been here. Born and raised in the best city in the Carolinas, Winston-Salem. I guess with all that I’d consider myself a panthers fan first.

I'd add this final note...

Ron Rivera might very well make an excellent head coach if he gets a job somewhere else. Plenty of great coaches didn't pan out on their first job. Marv Levy, Tom Coughlin and of course Bill Belichick are all examples of this.

Maybe a change of scenery will help Rivera too.

I highly doubt that. Rivera is a moron. A change of scenery won't make a difference.

He's not a moron. He has an absolutely brilliant defensive mind. As a DC, he absolutely owned guys like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.

But being a head coach requires a different skill set. So far, Rivera hasn't shown that he possesses those skills.

Maybe in a different situation, with a better owner and a better GM, he can succeed.

I think we're too far gone for that to happen here.

The biggest knock on Rivera is his lack of ability to consistently evolve on a basic level as a coach. His gameday gaffes and iffy decision making abilities have been a recurring theme even after he claims to have recognized those faults and learned moving forward.

At some point you just ask yourself is it ever going to completely sink in. His tendency to shift blame for failure suggests the odds are not good.

To me, there are brilliant coaches who have a system and adjust their personnel systematically. Bellinchek as example

Sean MCVey is interesting very very interesting in his trajectory  similar to bellinchek  the right QB for his system and smart enough to not be afraid of a star coaching staff ie Phillips for d coordinator

then there are game managers. Typically coordinators who can make the step to HC with varying degrees of success based on their players.  Rivera. Fox. Wade Phillips. Currently

Then the coordinators that should have just stayed coordinators. List is long

You make some points, but in the end, there we are, contending in most of his seasons. We even made it into the playoffs with a losing record (statistical fluke, but he did beat out Sean Payton for the honor that year).

Andy Reid is one heck of a coach, but even he hasn't been a consistent playoff contender throughout his career. He posts a .595 career victory percentage as a head coach, which isn't damning of him but points to how hard it is to be a successful coach in this league.

Mike Tomlin? The guy is great. Not a complaint in the world against him, one of the best coaches in the game. It sames something when you are only the third head coach in such a storied franchise's history. Knoll, Cowher, Tomlin. All three got rings for their team. All three also had long tenures to get through up and down years. They each built a string of winning seasons, though, and that made them great.

Rivera, he's done pretty good by us. Yeah, he tends to play not to lose, but its hard not to when the fanbase has their knives out. And there are some of you that never put those knives away.

Mr. Scott, I used to love coming onto this forum and reading your pieces explaining in depth what happened in a game, seeing some wrinkles that I didn't notice, getting a better understanding of The Game as much as the game I'd just watched. I really looked forward to it. Then, a year or two ago, you just chucked it all and sidled in with the guys who start talking about the boat sinking as soon as we leave the dock. It saddens me. I mean, I understand, that's the popular klatch around here now, but they make for miserable company.

Me, I'm going to cheer for the coach while he's here, I'm gonna cheer for Cam while he's here, and I'm going to cheer for the Panthers as long as I'm on this planet.

Great post.

We win a game-come to the huddle &  its like we lost.

Pathetic --

So... it's perfectly fine for @Cookie Lyon to call Rivera that? But you call out @csx for saying it to her? Is that not a double standard? After all, what is wrong for one person, should be wrong for two. Right?

Finally someone picks up on it! Sheesh this is a slow group.

It's edgy to insult a player or coach personally but it's taboo to do the same to an anonymous user name.

Where do I purchase my personal  insult license like Cookie has?

For someone who has such a problem with the group on this message board, as this isn’t your first time posting your displeasure, you sure post in here quite a bit.

    • The agenda was building around Bryce.  2 WR, 3 olinemen, TE, and a potentially elite RB.  I stood up for Bryce all last year because I didn't think you could evaluate him properly with what we had last year in coaching, play calling and personal.  Bryce was the 2nd least pressured QB in the last 2 weeks because of the money Morgan spent on the line.  Despite Bryce looking horrible I'd say Morgan has had an exceptional beginning as GM. Here some more things I liked. Trevin Wallace looked like a banger in preseason.  Resigned Brown.  Gave Horn his 5th year option and Horn is playing very well. *Flipped a 7th round pick for a starting CB in Michael Jackson who has also played well. Filled a depleted roster with solid vets and if you really look at the cap this is a 2 year play.  Almost everyone except the 2 elite guards signed a 2 year deal. Did not pay Stephen Gilmore 10 million for one season. *Got the 0-2 Rams 2nd pick next year. Set a culture and tone of the type of players we want.  *Dawgs. *Elite GM moves.
