64 carries , 183 rushing yards, 2.9 ypc  , average of 7 carries per game 

54 receptions, 406 receiving yards, 7.5 ypr , 75% catch percentage, average of 6 catches per game

Averaging 13 touches per game. Has 589 total yards from scrimmage.

- Leads the team in total yards from scrimmage with 589  by a wide margin (the next closest player is Funchess with 443 yards 

- Leads the team in total receptions with 54 (next closest player is Funchess with a paltry 38 receptions in comparison)

- Tied with Funchess in leading the team in total touchdowns for non-QB player (3 total) 


Not sexy statistics by any means, but at least i saw huge improvement in his running game yesterday. He seems to have a lot more success when he's not dancing behind the line and not getting contacted behind the line of scrimmage. I also saw more of an effort to give him outside runs and while between the tackles, at least runs with direcetional blocking and not strait up the gut. And my favorite rush was one where he started to go up the middle and bounced it outside. He saw much more time in the backfield that his previous games and had a season high of 15 carries. 

I honestly think its not a coincedence that he has more rush yards and better ypc, I've been telling people that part of the reason why some of the marquee rbs in the league are so successful, is that they are getting massive amounts of carries per game (ex. for week 9 , Leveon Bell : 25 carries ,  2 receptions / Ezekiel Elliot 27 carries ).  The coaches are extraordirily loyal to Stewart and he'll keep getting at least 10 of McCaffrey's potential carries per game for the rest of the season. 

What I noticed is that, our offense was flowing much better with McCaffrey in the backfield. Almost every time stew was in , the defense pretty much knew what we were going to do and kept stonewalling stew repeatedly. Stew's too slow to be an effective runner outside of the tackles like we've seen way too many times this season.  And I also saw Armah lining up much more. 

I'm also seeing a continuing trend of McCaffrey being open so many times and only get 5 catches, I honestly think Cam could be feeding him ball twice as much per game. I think the offense should be run through Cam, Funchess, McCaffrey, and Samuel in that order. 

Its yet to be seen if he's going to continue rushing the ball so well, especially considering that some of the dlines that we're going against in the next few seasons aren't pushovers by any means (ex. Jets , Saints , Vikings). 

Fun Facts: 

- Cam is the 2nd leading rusher, only 9 yards less than Stewart with 341 total compared to Stewart's 350. Cam also has by far and away the highest ypc (4.9)

- McCaffrey and Stewart have the exact same ypc (2.9). Stewart has roughly double the amount of carries that McCaffrey has. 

- Kareem Hunt has 800 rushing yards and 331 receiving yards , Kudos to him and KC, that is crazy numbers. Although it seems lately that teams may be starting to figure out how to shut him down running (46 rushing yards against Denver, and 37 rushing yards against Dallas) . 

- Alvin Kamara's stats  : 52 rushes , 311 rushing yards , 6 ypc   / 38 receptions , 341 receiving yards / 652 yards from scrimmage. Safe to say he's been killing it , but he got pretty lucky landing in that system with Peyton and Brees .

A couple of rookie records to keep an eye out on as the season goes on for McCaffrey : 

- The NFL record for receptions for all rookies is 101 catches, set by Anquan Boldin in 2003 (McCaffrey on pace for 96 receptions)

- The NFL record for receptions for a rookie running back is 88, set by Reggie Bush in 2006.

At this point he most likely wont. Most of his receptions are very short passes in the middle of the field with defenders closing quickly. I don't think he's receiving the ball much when he lines up out wide .

I started to worry that he may be a bust the last few weeks, but he showed some potential yesterday, and as much as I hate the Falcons, I respect their defense.  Their defense is just smashmouth and downhill every play, so for him to show the elusiveness he did yesterday against them, it is encouraging.

That YPC though...  yuck.  I hope we see more of what he showed yesterday and that YPC will pick up by season's end.  Also, i hope he starts getting the bulk of Stew's carries, and that should help.

After what we saw yesterday, I really do think Kelvin's presence on the field was more of a liability for the entire offense than what we realized.  I believe they mentioned it yesterday, but it didnt just affect the passing game, it allowed defenses to stack the box and key on the run bc they didnt respect speed on each respective side of the field with KB and Funchess out there together.  It looks like the Falcons weren't comfortable all day because they had fully planned on stacking the box and they weren't able to.

how do Stewart's YPC compare this year to every other year of his career? I would suspect it's a lower number. Now the confounding variable in directly correlating that to poor o-line play, scheme and team's stacking the box against us is Stewart's age of course.
