We are witnessing a QB rewrite the unwritten rules for how to play QB

When Cam Newton was drafted all of the talk was about how Vince Young and Jarmarcus Russell had failed and he was bound to meet the same fate. He was too cocky. Too brass. "Oversexualized" according to one reporter in Tennessee. He couldn't play in the pocket they said. "Running QBs" don't last long.

In his 6 and a half years in the league Cam has opened the door to the Watsons, Wentzs, Russel Wilsons and Tyrod Taylor's of the NFL. It just so happens that 'conventional' guys like Tom Savage and CJ Beatheart or whatever the fug stink it up every week. Every time Cam dances or celebrates or walks out after the 10 stupid question is hurled his way, or protests his coaches awful call on 4th down people clutch their pearls in horror. Then he leads his team to a W. Rinse and repeat.

He is an icon and entertainer and he has opened the door for many after him because of his leadership and love of this game. The rest of the NFL is barely watchable because too many teams refuse to accept that it is 2017. Cam was the pilot. On to Miami.

This is the exact dumb poo that turn people off of Cam, fanboy crap.

We get it, but no Cam isn’t revolutionizing anything because no one can. Cam is playing to his strengths which happen to be rare as a qb and thus an unseen style is emerging...for Cam. But Brady’s style works as does Wilson’s and Wentz (for now). I think the lesson is more so to play good QBs to their strengths to become great, all with have different styles. I personally don’t see any elite qb that plays like another one to say one followed the other and in a sense that’s what makes them elite, including Cam when he’s in the mood.

Yes, Cam opened the door for good QBs to be good QBs and nobodies to be nobodies

They hate Cam or Cam talk more than anyone on this board, but we’re quick to show up.

There are numerous fans here that truly understand and empathize on a human level regarding the public dynamic surrounding Cam Newton, and what he's faced both fair and unfair throughout his career so far. But there are unfortunately many more that would rather shield ignorance and pretend it isn't there rather than directly address it. It's a shame, but it's not going to change.

    • Film Room Playlist _ NFL Pro — Mozilla Firefox 2024-11-25 10-20-11.mp4 🎯🎯🎯 There were a couple of "fans" yesterday saying that this wasn't a helmet-to-helmet shot... 👀 Looks like based on where Moore was and where the play ended, he'd have gotten maybe just a yard or two more. Chuba was downed at the KC 16 and Moore was on his way back to the QB, so the offense got what they could for the most part. After reviewing the all-22, Bryce made the right call here. Tremble was the hot and KC sent both LBs. He gets it out with a clear pocket but it's quickly collapsing. If there was a little more time it looked like AT came free at the end but whether or not Bryce would've been upright still is another story. Smart move to get the completion and keep the field goal in play to stay alive. George Karlaftis is about to get himself a big ole hug and Bryce heaves it to where David Moore is going. Trent McDuffie slipped just a step or two before this shot, but we can see the clear DPI here as he's wrapped around David Moore before knocking him over as the ball gets there.
    • I’m taking a TE early day 3 Ian Thomas and Tremble are FA.  We should have no desire to bring them back.   There’s more than enough film of ball bouncing off their hands or facemask.
    • Daniel Jones sometimes would sling it for 300 or 400 yards.  That's my stance.  We know what Bryce is.  If you consistently play any QB at this level, they largely are going to end up w/ some good days/games.  last time Mahomes was at BOA, Teddy Bridgwater threw for 300+ yards and a couple TDs and the Matt Rhule Panthers almost took him down.  We know what Bryce is.  Now we got people predictably falling into a predictable trap.
