Here's my first one for the April 2018 draft... done on November 5th 2017 lol. At least the College and NFL seasons are both more than halfway over, we're getting a good idea of where teams are goign to fall in terms of draft order, and the college standouts are establishing themselves. Used with Fanspeak Mock Draft Simulator. Most of the good oline prospects were gone considering how low our draft position is. +

Fanspeak isnt working for me right now but run it a lot.

 

Right now my mock and how i'd like to see it

 

1st: Ronnie Harrison- we've heard over ......and over that Shaq is going to be the ultimate weapon for this defense.  Well he's not.  And I havnt bought the hype since we've drafted him.  Now dont get me wrong he is a Good player and I think he could be a probowl calibre player when he moves over to TDs spot when he retires.   He isnt a safety, and doesnt have the cover abilty of a safety.  He cant be out there covering slot WRs (thus reason we play a lot of nickel and he on the field only half the time).  TD was the same way and you notice he never fully broke out until beason left and he was full time at his role now.  And Shaq will be to.

Now the SS role.  They are on the field all the time.  In the Zone they play a big role in coverage.  Sometimes we've seen it appear Bradberry getting roasted but the replay shows him staying his right coverage But the safety out of position in his.  Also in Wilks D and most Ds under rivera are blitz heavy. And you see the SS blitz quite a bit.

Harrison is 6'3 215 and athletic. Who isnt afraid to hit.  He has the athletic ability to be big time support in coverage and also can bring the hammer when up in the box or blitzing.  Just ask FSU.  He can be a missile blitzing in Wilks system yet same time be help down field covering big WRs like Julio, Evan, and Michael Thomas

 

 

2nd: Troy Fumagalli- we like using 2 TEs looks more than a FB with the #2 TE being more of a H-back line in the FB spot half of the time.  Dickson struggles bug time blocking.  Fumagalli is a Solid blocker and plays in a run heavy gritty Wisconsin offense.  Would be a Big Big upgrade to Dickson at the #2 TE.

He also is athletic, big/tall, smooth route runner with solid hands to become a weapon in the pass game as well.

 

3rd: Dante Pettis: trade a 6th to move up in reach to grab him.  Think he could go higher but most have him at the 3rd round.  Does have some drops.  He is thin and struggles blocking.

Now for the positives.  Not all WRs are good blockers coming out in fact very very do with the spread pass heavy offenses in college now.  He has the hands as he has made some crazy good catches.  Smooth route runner.  Not a "Burner" but solid speed as a high 4.4s.  Does have very good vision after the catch to break one long.  Has shown can be a solid Return man to.

 

 

3rd(b): Quenton Meeks: trade 7th to move up a few spots to grab him.  Worley is only in year 2.  But just dont see him being more than a solid backup.  Zero flashes or any potential to become solid starter.

Meeks has been a solid CB, big long athletic CB who has been Stanford #1 CB the last couple seasons.  This defense is at the top of the league but a big weakness keeps it from being great.  #2 CB has struggled this season, and luckily from the pressure from the front 7 has been able to mask it for most of the time.  The biggest problem that has held us back from a 2015 season isnt the offense.

2015 we were among the top of the league in turnovers and ints.  2 guys on this team has ints.  2 for our MLB, and 2 for our SS Mike Adams.  Few picks from the backs is a dagger to a team 

 

 

4th: we have a Trade!  With Fumagalli in the 2nd we have the ability to trade Dickson.  Dicksons game vs Detroit and some flashes since gives him some value with the contract he is under.

Dickson, 5th, and 7th(b) for a early to mid 4th.

Bradley Bozeman- big physical Center, who jas started for the top OL in college the last 2 seasons after Kelly went to the NFL.  The 3rd or 4th projected center pushes him down the board to this spot.  I have Kalil being gone retired or cut after this season.  Larson has been alright in Kalils place, but Bozeman will push him.

 

Trade away a few picks but come away with 5 guys ready to come in and contribute.

Yea at this point, based on our draft position the BPAs in the 1st round are looking like Harrison or  Hubbard, probably 98% chance we're getting an edge rusher or saftey with our first round pick.

Keep a serious eye out for Hayden Hurst in that 3rd round area as well at TE guys a baller.

How tf did we end up with the top tackle prospect in the draft at pick 24? I mean, I guess it kinda happened last year with Bolles going at 20 to Denver. But I thought this Mcglinchey dude was being considered sure fire , hmm

I think we drop Charles Johnson in the offseason . We'll have a crowded DE room before roster cuts so it should be a pretty good competition to see who gets to play with Addison and Peppers (Horton, Hubbard, Ferrell , Hall). I think Peppers will retire if we have a deep playoff run. We pretty much address all our defensive needs in this draft, and get a TE1 of the future .

Yeah definatley not realistic.  But thats the way it fell, never happen though.
