we wasted a play trotting stewart out with a FB to run. the coaches cared more about showing 'their guy' they still believed in him and tried to get him a positive play/td there so they could say they believe in their guys at the end of the game.

Correct. They need to do more. That is why Newton and the offense spent more than 1/2 a decade in counting sacrificing and being second fiddle to that unit so that they could be a better version of the Broncos or Seahawks.
