Google Voice gives you an actual phone number, plus, say you have more than one phone you use (work, personal, home, etc) Google Voice will combine all of these into that one number.

Google Voice also transcribes you voicemails for you and you can send and receive texts from it. Oh, and its completely free.

Skype is a video chat service through which you can also make phone calls. The video and voice chat is free to other Skype users, but it costs money to make calls to phones.

Yeah that helped a lot. Thanks. I was just wondering why Apple was having such a problem with the Google Voice app when they allow a Skype app on the iPhone. I thought Skype was the same as Google Voice.

Well, the problem is that in Google Voice you can still make calls with that number and thats what Apple is peeved about.
