And not only downgrade it but failed make it "faster" in the process.  And it only happened because Beane gave them the idea at the last minute.

Sure sounds like management is on the ball with this "evolution" thing.

The WRs got faster by replacing KB with Samuel/Shep/Clay. Bersin isn't coming in to replace KB 1:1 as a means to get faster. He's WR5 - a possession-type receiver to be a backup, familiar face to Cam, and spell the other WRs on ST. The team doesn't think Bersin is the answer to speed - we should all understand that they're not thinking he's the solution.

They were already on the team so I don't understand this logic.  There's no rule that says you can't change personnel groupings on a particular play so what you are suggesting makes no sense.  I'm not suggesting the Bersin is replacing KB, only an idiot would suggest that.  I'm saying that their claim that this happened because they wanted to get faster is only due to the fact that they got swindled out of a wr and are trying to cover it up with this BS.

Had this been remotely true they would have tried to add more speed during they trade period while they were shopping KB.  They didn't and in fact they never were planning on changing the approach.  It only came about because they realized that they needed an excuse for their incompetence.

They wanted to get one of KB or Funch off the field to get faster (by giving their existing personnel more PT)- determined it was KB (for several reasons) - and moved him to get something of value in return because they couldn't bench him. Not sure how you think that's getting swindled out of a WR. You can be emotional and disagree with the move, but it was planned and intentional. Sorry to burst that bubble for you.

It was not planned.  Stop making excuses.  If this was the plan then they are idiots.   You are telling me that they had a plan to trade KB all along but waited until someone called them to make the trade?  And then had to wait 24 hours before they went through with it at the last minute of the deadline?  What kind of plan is that?

While I can see some logic in trading Benjamin, and adding Bersin at this point under the resulting circumstances, you too have a valid point. Hurney, Rivera, and Shula should have known long ago that 13 and 17 wide out at the same time would cause the issues that it took them, allegedly, eight weeks into the season to figure out. That's gross incompetence on the offensive side of the ball defined. Hurney should use the two draft picks he got on a new head coach (3rd) and offensive coordinator (7th). If that was possible, that seventh round OC couldn't be any worse.
