Steve Smith: "There are routes that those two guys (Benjamin/Funchess) can't run. So if you have the same two guys running the same routes it limits your offense and route tree."

While I never said the success of the 2015 is the only way to measure KB,  (By the way, Zod, if using an entire year to illustrate a point is simplistic, what do you call using 1 game to counter that point?--everyone knows this is a team game and there are other variables.)

I this is part of the point I have been making.  With the exception of the slants, most of these routes require patience--and Cam has been sacked a lot over the course of his career.  Funchess and KB were slowish, big WRs that were not fast vertical threats.  The OL has been good, for the most part, during the time KB was here.  The Running game?  good.  The sack total?  Bad.  At first, I thought Cam was not reading fast enough, but he was waiting for the Sloths to get open.  When Cam waits, when he does not throw after establishing his plant foot, he tends to lose accuracy, get sacked, or run.  So KB threatened the life of Cam Newton.

This is not to say that KB is or was bad.  It is to say that he and Funchess were not a good combination.  Unloading one--the expensive one--makes sense, if you ask me.  Everyone wants the twin towers, especially when the qb has accuracy issues.  However, I contend that the timing and the lack of getting open cause accuracy issues.

I see both sides, but I do not think KB's loss will have a negative impact.

Its not the trade but his replacement is Bersin. Same ole song..even if we win im tired of this coaching staff if they are not gone next yr i hope they trade Cam so that I can see him play for another OC.. This is not 2015 .

It took the coaching staff this long to see that they were bad togethrer...what a joke of a staff we have.. thats common sense.

Everything Steve said is true. None of it though justifies a trade. If we let Kelvin walk at the end of the season we get around his 8mil cap hit, and we would have gotten a third round compensatory pick for him. We essentially traded Kelvin to the bills for half a season for a 7th round pick.

If you want to add speed and open the offense up then trade for a skill player that actually has speed, and don't play Benjamin and Funch at the same time. This is beyond stupid, Bean just played Hurney like a freakin fiddle.

Don't agree with smith. Bears had Alshon and B marsh and their offense was high powered. Matter of dact it was top 3 with cutler at the helm. If we had two 6'4 recievers, the point is to throw it up and let them get it...not wait for them to get seperation.

Marshall is not slow tho.

Problem solved without hurting depth a great deal.

I doubt Ron and Mike Shula have ever even met.

That's not how comp picks work. We already picked up his option so we would have to cut him meaning we get no comp pick for him.
