There wasn't time. By all accounts this came together quickly right before the deadline. The Bills initiated this. There was no plan to move Benji, no calling a couple of other receiver needy teams to gauge value or drive up the price. Just doing a solid for his old buddy Beane. Once the deal the done, there wasn't time to call another team and make a trade.

My biggest gripe with this situation is the idea that your offensive play caller is so inept that he can't discern this on his own, but you don't fire him. You let him run into the same brick wall every week and hope he just "gets it." Instead, the realization never comes and in order to force him to diversify his playcalling you give up an asset and get nothing tangible in return. Nobody was forcing him to run these two players as WR1 and WR2. 

You're trying to make a playcaller less stupid by taking AWAY options rather than giving him more. Let me know how that goes.

Tyrod Taylor has been playing well.  If I am McD the smart move is just keep him and draft a QB to develop.

      Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
