I am having trouble believing that the organization didn't do a thorough cost/benefit analysis of the trade -- people are posting variations on a theme of "but we're in playoff contention" like it's some sort of novel insight that Hurney, Richardson, and their support staff somehow missed.

My guess is that the offense will more or less maintain its current level of output ex post, or that there's something going on behind the scenes (included in the calculus) that hasn't yet come to light.

Bills send Kaelin Clay and a 3rd. Get back Benjamin. 

They had to have done this to appease the LOSER QB. He and Benjamin never saw eye to eye. And building a team around a loser like Newton is a bad idea.

I'm not going to defend KB as a top receiver or 1st round pick or whatever. However, the guys behind Funchess have shown nothing. This trade makes the offense worse. For a team with a win now roster to trade him for draft picks just doesn't make much sense. I kinda wouldn't be surprised if some petty bullshit ends up having been a catalyst.
