Falcons Week - Look Alive

Time to move on from Tampa Bay, it is now officially Falcons week.

Since the last time these teams squared off, the Panthers are on the rise and the Falcons are on the decline. I don't think anyone can argue that.

I am pretty optimistic about this game.

  • The Panthers have lost two home games in a row. I just don't see them losing three.
  • Cameron Artis-Payne gave a spark to the running game. Hopefully his snap count increases.
  • The Panthers offense usually improves in November.
  • Panthers defense hasn't forgotten last year and wants to make a statement.

The Panthers should come away with a win on Sunday.

Panthers NEED this game.  If we win, it will catapult us deep into the playoffs, but a loss could spell disaster for our season.  I said before the Tampa game that I think winning both of these NFC South games would indicate that we were a playoff team, but going 1-1 would lead to a mediocre 9-7 type year.  Regardless, I am really looking forward to the ATL game.  I couldnt say that this time last week

Carolina never seems to play well in the dome. But on the home field I like our odds.

The ATL offense seems to be stumbling a bit under Sarkisian but the defense in the secondary is improved.

I think we'll see the our defense contain the offense for the most part unless freeman and coleman get loose underneath and rushing against our rotational DTs.

Jones has not had a fantastic year and with the way Bradberry is playing as of late, I'm confident we keep his receptions to a minimum. They like to run hard PA to get a deepball out every once in a while still, so as long as KurCO is holding it down we will be good there also.

The key to this game is stopping Beasley's pass rush and our ability to keep ourselves from losing (mostly turnovers or running CMC up the gut)

Big, big game with a lot of implications in the chase to the playoffs.

It's going to come down to time of possession and getting after Matt Ryan. We need Pep to play like it was 2005 again, we all need to hear Ryan scream in terror as he is chased around the pocket.

It's going to be a tough test.

This is the game that can set the tone for the rest of our season.  If we come out fired up and beat a division rival for the second week in a row, there is a good chance this team wins out.  We need to get a W and set the tone for the rest of the year!
